Job Summary



What is the opportunity?

As the Senior Manager, Whole Life Products & Initiatives, you will be accountable for the shared development of product strategy for new initiatives and for the management activities of Whole Life Insurance products, with a focus on driving the profitability of portfolio to ensure alignment with short-term and long-term enterprise objectives and the effective management of the portfolio. This role is a key leadership position aligned with revenue growth, prudent NIAT growth, market leadership and relationship management for external and internal business partners. You will also support the attainment of our strategic objectives and greatly influences the brand reputation for RBC Life Insurance Company.

What will you do?

  • Contribute proactively and effectively as a member of the Product Management team to create and execute strategic direction for new initiatives for RBC Life Insurance.
  • Analyze market, industry trends and competitor strategies to grow our position in the life insurance market.
  • Lead the development and implementation of new product strategies and plans to achieve goals of RBC Life Insurance and overall RBC Insurance. Product Development
  • Provide effective leadership with key functional areas to ensure a continuous improvement discipline focused on simplifying processes and cross-selling across RBCI to drive revenue, improve efficiency and client experience.
  • Lead all aspects of research, design, and development of new life product opportunities and enhancements to support strategic direction and to support required ROE levels. \xe2\x96\xaa Analyze industry trends and competitor\xe2\x80\x99s activities, so that existing products can be revised or replaced to ensure that we continue to offer a competitive range of products that contribute to the achievement of annual marketing plans.
  • End to end product management: Subject Matter Expert responsible for providing product specific strategic and technical direction to Product Analysts, Pricing, Online and Technology teams, S&O, S&D, Corporate Underwriting, and Marketing.
  • Develop product and market strategy recommendations to Director & Senior Director, Product Management Life & LB
  • Develop and implement mitigating strategies with internal and external business partners for all risks including systemic, strategic, competitive, reputational, operational, insurance, regulatory and market risks.

Must-have
  • 7+ years of experience leading product development activities in the life and health insurance market.
  • Strong strategic business sense and organizational awareness \xe2\x96\xaa Strong change management and leadership skills
  • Ability to create change from concept to execution \xe2\x96\xaa Strong knowledge and insight into the Life and Health insurance marketplace.
  • Ability to work independently in a dynamic environment, handling varied and changing priorities.
  • Strong problem solving, decision-making and analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication/negotiation skills, and strong presentation skills
