Looking for a new and exciting job opportunity? We are looking for a Senior Manager, Systems to join our Engineering Team!

What You Will Do

Reporting to the Director, Systems Integration, you will collaborate with Metrolinx staff and contractors to deliver a seamless systems and infrastructure integration for the Metrolinx Rapid Transit Program and Subway Expansion projects, where the TTC is the operator.

As a key technical leader, you will provide oversight to ensure TTC requirements are met for operating revenue vehicles, maintaining security and revenue control, and station staffing--ultimately driving high levels of customer satisfaction throughout project implementation.



Key Responsibilities:


Stakeholder Coordination: Collaborate closely with TTC operating departments and Metrolinx, reviewing contracts to ensure TTC requirements are clearly specified and fulfilled. Leading Design & Safety Review: Evaluate design submissions related to systems, interfaces, and safety assurance prepared by Metrolinx contractors. Hazard Analysis: Contribute to the development of project-specific hazard/mishap logs for revenue operations. Monitor and advise on mitigation strategies in coordination with Safety Engineering Services and Operations teams. Operational Procedures: Develop and review operating rules and procedures in partnership with TTC departments, Safety Engineering Services, Metrolinx, and contractors. Commissioning & Safety Certification: Participate in the creation of commissioning and safety certification plans, including associated safety and quality documentation for Metrolinx-delivered projects. Continuous Improvement: Recommend changes to enhance system safety and operability based on TTC operational experience. Team Leadership: Lead a team of Engineers within the System Integration division, ensuring TTC departments are actively involved in design reviews, commissioning, handover, and project closeout. Managing staff (TTC internal staff and consultant) Technical Guidance: Provide expert consultation and direction on engineering matters, ensuring adherence to TTC and EC&E Group policies, procedures, and standards. Relationship Management: Foster professional working relationships and effective communication among TTC staff, Metrolinx, and their consultants and contractors. Substitutes for the Director, Systems Integration as needed

What Qualifications Do You Bring

Completion of a university degree in Engineering or a related discipline, complemented by extensive experience in the rail and public transit sector, with a proven track record of managing and leading technical and operational teams. Must be a licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in the Province of Ontario. Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute is considered an asset. Strong planning, organizational, and management capabilities. Excellent interpersonal, verbal, written, and presentation abilities. Skilled in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and scheduling tools. Familiarity with software used for electrical, subway/railway, and surface communications design and analysis. Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams, navigate complex challenges, and foster effective working relationships. In-depth understanding of operations, maintenance, systems, and components related to bus, subway, and LRT services. Broad knowledge of engineering principles and practices in systems and facilities design, construction, and project management. Ability to prepare and interpret complex technical reports, identify issues, and evaluate effective solutions.
