Strategic Customer Group (SCG) of JJMT is responsible for driving strategic growth initiatives and revenue growth from a select range of the largest institutional customers in Canada. The Strategic Customer Group (SCG) of Johnson and Johnson MedTech (JJMT) Canada enables revenue generation across all portfolios in Canada, with comprehensive contract and pricing capabilities.

The Strategic Contracts & Pricing team within SCG is responsible for establishing contracting and pricing capabilities for executing portfolio contracting strategies, risk mitigation, efficient process and change management, and optimizing data and systems to enable contract data insights.

The Senior Manager, Strategic Contracts & Pricing is a key role that ensures there are robust processes and strategies that facilitate commercial objectives being secured in the marketplace across all channels (acute care, private, distributor). Working closely with JJMT Commercial teams, Finance and Strategic Account Managers, the Senior Manager will be responsible for developing and executing end-to-end national contract and pricing capabilities. The Senior Manager will develop strategic relationships with all portfolio and commercial leads, Finance, Health Care Compliance (HCC) and Legal. The Senior Manager will leverage innovative processes, automation technologies to plan for longer term development and growth of capabilities to enhance internal partner and customer experience related to contract and pricing value streams.

This role will lead, coach and develop a team of diverse Contracting and Pricing professionals charged with leveraging knowledge cross-franchise to deliver a value-add service offering to the commercial businesses within JJMT from offer development including risk analysis and data accuracy through to contract award and contract lifecycle management.

Key Responsibilities

Contract and Pricing Enablement:

Provide JJMT leaders with key insights into the provincial healthcare procurement environment, including risks, opportunities. identifies major procurement practice shifts and to inform commercial strategies and risk mitigation. The role oversees the management of JJMT bids, contracts, and value payment processes. The Senior Manager has a deep understanding of contracting practices and requirements as well as the data structure related to contracts & pricing within JJMT Canada. The Senior Manager takes ownership for creation and implementation of complex and long-term plans, establishing priorities that are substantiated through a business case. The Senior Manager takes a risk-based approach to defining and deploying contract & price requirements for JJMT Canada. The Senior Manager recommends innovative contract agreement structures by understanding the commercial strategy and business needs with consideration including and beyond price enabling franchise differentiation.

Build internal capabilities:

The Senior Manager will leverage JJMT broad product portfolio knowledge, legal risk analysis, HCC compliance guidelines and financial objectives to drive standardization to optimize and employ flexibility and agility where needed, based on deep understanding of key procurement practice trends and current healthcare challenges. The role will use a high degree of influence to engage and collaborate to drive contracting capabilities that will support enhancing our customer experience. The Senior Manager will leverage Contract and Pricing strategies from other J&J global markets and will adapt relevant initiatives to the specific unmet needs within JJMT Canada.

The Senior Manager will work with internal business partners to develop innovative technology solutions that enable & automate (using AI/ML/AR etc.) effective contract and pricing data management, workflow efficiency, insight generation and end to end data accessibility within quote to cash processes. The Senior Manager will provide for robust training of internal partners to optimize the workflow output. The Senior Manager will be accountable for cross-functional projects associated to efficiency and capability innovations, their timelines, goals, and overall budgeted costs.

Internal Partnerships

This role requires a high degree of collaboration with multiple levels of management across commercial teams, Finance, HCC, Legal and other regions. This role manages a high degree of complexity across multiple JJMT Franchises, functional areas, and strategic accounts across Canada. The Senior Manager will demonstrate the ability to cultivate strong and positive relationships with the commercial organization, with strong abilities to influence without authority.

The Senior Manager is adept at leading, coaching and developing a diverse team of professionals with contracting and analytics competencies within a hierarchal structure. The role ensures effective alignment of resources to achieve a maximum benefit for the customer, a high level of employee engagement that encourages ideation and diversity of thought. The Senior Manager will actively support career planning and development of the team toward a long-term vision of growth.

Qualifications

Education Experience and Skill Requirements:

Education

A minimum of a University degree, with a minimum 4 years of experience or formal education in Digital Automation (ML/AI/VR/AR).

Language

English. French proficiency would be an asset but not mandatory.

Experience

  • A minimum of 10 years of commercial or public contracting operations within Life-sciences industry (MedTech/Pharma).
  • A minimum of 3 years of People Leadership is required.
  • Strong business, financial acumen & Technology acumen
  • Foundational understanding and experience within Canadian healthcare procurement environment and the relationships between hospital administration, healthcare buying groups and clinical stakeholders.
  • Experience leading aspects of data system implementation, technology & automation that can be applied to contract and pricing.
  • Ability to quickly understand and synthesize complex information, to identify risk and recommend optimal solutions.
