The Prevention Practice, Quality, and Engineering department provides expert technical, legal, and practice advice to support Prevention Services. The team ensures decisions are legally sound, grounded in engineering principles, and aligned with quality standards. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills and balance technical, policy, and strategic expertise to support Prevention Services effectively. They should demonstrate the ability to innovate and implement programs, focus on high-level strategy rather than operational tasks.

At WorkSafeBC, we offer a hybrid work model that combines working remotely, and in our offices based on the operational needs of the position.


In this role, you will work primarily from our Richmond Office with some flexibility to work from your home in B.C.
What you'll do


Develop and implement a comprehensive quality control, improvement, and assurance program for Prevention Services to enhance divisional products, services, and user experiences. Lead diverse teams of technical, legal, and/or practice experts in occupational health and safety and quality management to support Prevention Services in reducing risk in BC workplaces. Develop and oversee project plans, objectives, timelines, and deliverables to ensure successful preparation, consultation, implementation, and program delivery. Foster teamwork and collaboration by involving the team in developing and executing project plans for key divisional initiatives, including Regulation and Policy implementation. Provide strategic advice and a quality-focused approach to resolving complex service delivery issues for the Prevention Senior Management team. Oversee financial resources, ensuring efficient allocation within budgetary constraints to meet operational needs. Support WorkSafeBC's corporate safety program by maintaining safe work practices and ensuring compliance with safety standards and policies. Is this a good fit for you?

Bring strategic and innovative leadership with extensive knowledge of quality programs to effectively support Prevention Services. Demonstrate expertise in quality management ideally within the occupational health and safety field. Lead diverse teams in dynamic environments. Excel in interpersonal and communication skills, fostering a strong culture of quality. Show proven proficiency in analytical thinking, facilitation and negotiation. Combine strategic vision with the ability to drive meaningful operational change. Be an innovative problem solver, enhancing effectiveness through creative solutions. Offer experience in financial management, budget planning, and resource allocation Remain flexible for occasional business travel Consistently model the appropriate level of organizational behaviours expected of all WorkSafeBC employees: responsive, respectful, fair, collaborative, accountable, and forward thinking.

Your background and experience

Post-secondary education in public or business administration, occupational health & safety or equivalent quality management field A minimum of 3 years managing staff and a minimum of 6 years' experience in the interpretation and application of legislative policy and practice requirements or equivalent Demonstrated knowledge of Prevention practices, encompassing inspections, consultations, education, accident investigations, and enforcement activities. Familiarity with Prevention performance metrics/measurement and reporting systems. Understanding and working knowledge of quality standards is considered an asset

Considered an Asset:


Advanced degrees such as Master of Engineering (M.Eng.), Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Quality Management or Quality Engineering, or Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a focus on Operations or Quality Management Certifications including Lean Six Sigma, Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), or Certified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence (CMQ/OE). Knowledge of OHS practices, including inspections, consultations, education, accident investigations, and enforcement activities.

Salary: $139,423 - $169,399/annually
