What you\xe2\x80\x99ll be doing

The Pricing & Portfolio Optimization team is a central hub of pricing and portfolio analytical expertise within CIBC Canadian Banking, and is leading the way in applying the best practices in predictive science, machine learning, leveraging massive datasets and the latest in big data technology platforms to truly revolutionize personalization to drive client experience and improve profitability. Reporting to the Director of Pricing & Portfolio Optimization, as the Senior Manager of Portfolio Optimization, you\xe2\x80\x99ll ensure that sound analytical methods and processes are utilized to drive client-focused margin, revenue, and profitability optimization. As a valuable member of the team, you\xe2\x80\x99ll apply your knowledge and expertise of data and finance to lead a team solving a wide range of challenging business problems and bring innovative solutions. You\xe2\x80\x99ll pro-actively contribute to the portfolio management function in the area of analytical design, strategy building, model governance and model performance monitoring and other analysis to help optimize the effectiveness and profitability of projects, marketing campaigns, pricing, optimization, contracts and other business decisions across our products. You\xe2\x80\x99ll interact with groups across the organization from Products, Segments, Marketing to Channels, Treasury Risk. You\xe2\x80\x99ll work with structured and unstructured data to produce end-to-end solutions, taking models from experiment to deployment.

How you\xe2\x80\x99ll succeed

  • Data Science Expertise \xe2\x80\x93 Provide advanced analytics solutions to solve business problems by leveraging traditional analytical, statistical, machine learning and optimization techniques. Conduct self-directed research, typically using non-traditional resources to solve business problems.
  • Thought Leadership \xe2\x80\x93 Work closely with a team of analysts to deliver and deploy effective client-level NIM optimization strategies in development and production environments. Work closely with other senior modelers to facilitate effective dissemination of model and strategy business impacts and model governance and model performance to business partners.
  • Business Consulting \xe2\x80\x93 Conduct business problem assessment independently. Gather relevant information related to business processes, functions and operations to evaluate data credibility and quality. Utilize creative thinking to modify or select the most suitable procedure/approach to solve a business problem. Perform in-depth analysis for the purpose of identifying revenue generation and cost saving opportunities, developing proposals and make recommendations for model usage to the downstream partners.
  • Market Relevancy \xe2\x80\x93 Participate in an analytics community whose goal is to foster and share analytic approaches across the enterprise. Liaise with internal and external sources, colleagues, and others to obtain, provide, verify and discuss information and best practices.
Who you are
  • You have a degree/diploma in Finance, Business, Computer Engineering/Science based discipline. It\xe2\x80\x99s an asset if you have a graduate degree or professional designation.
  • You can demonstrate experience in data modeling skills and working with large datasets, including both structured and unstructured data and related tools (e.g., SQL Developer, SAS, etc.).
  • You can demonstrate expertise in designing and delivering the user friendly production report for the multiple users using various BI Platforms.
  • You can demonstrate strong proficiency in visualization tools, such as Tableau.
