Status: Part-time, Temporary (2-year contract with possibility of extension)

The Ontario Joint Genomics Program (OJGP) is a new initiative for a province-wide community of genome sequencing partner institutions who operate under a central administration to enable complete genomic knowledge to guide clinical management of cancer patients. The OICR Genomics Program is seeking a part-time Senior Manager, OJGP to shape, monitor, and coordinate initial activities within the OJGP and provide reports to the Oversight Committee. The successful candidate will help with the initiation of the program, facilitate smooth, coherent service within the OJGP and will coordinate activities with external partners and internal stakeholders.

The responsibilities include:

  • Work independently in consultation with OICR senior leadership to coordinate activities across multiple sites to establish a business plan, strategy, and operational framework for OJGP.
  • Interact with multiple institution leaders across the province; weekly progress update meetings with OICR President and Genomics Director.
  • Organize meetings and coordinate communication with stakeholders to secure support for the OJGP model and identify specific genomics technology expertise and needs at NGS labs intending to join the OJGP. Help establish provincial supporting working groups needed for establishing the OJGP and track their deliverables and milestones.
  • Through working groups and other relevant cross-provincial stakeholders, finalize Terms of Reference or a Charter governing the Vision, Mission, activities, governance, and other associated logistics needed to launch and execute on the OJGP model.
  • Work with Legal/Technology Transfer departments at stakeholder centre to complete contractual agreements.
  • Develop a framework with partner institutions\xe2\x80\x99 technology transfer groups to coordinate licensing agreements for shared IP developed through the OJGP.
  • Prepare periodic reports on work progress towards establishing the OJGP to the OICR Genomics Program and OICR leadership, as necessary.
  • Prepare financial reporting templates to facilitate transparent auditing after OJGP launch.
  • Once established, coordinate the launch of OJGP activities with the central coordinating centre at OICR and with OICR Genomics Program leads.
  • Develop processes to facilitate communication and monitor activities with partners and stakeholders in the OJGP such as portals for network partner services and a repository of shared protocols and other documents.
  • Work with OJGP partner procurement departments to develop strategies to obtain centralized high-volume discounts on reagents, consumables, and equipment.
  • Help in developing a Quality Management process across partner sites.
Qualifications:
  • PhD in relevant field required, e.g. life sciences, or equivalent education and experience.
  • MBA required.
  • Experience working in an academic cancer centre or university as an independent researcher with some grant writing experience.
  • Project Management (PMP) certification is an asset.
  • Experience with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS), Electronic Medical. Records (i.e., Epic), databases (i.e., REDCap) and shared trackers (i.e., Excel).
  • Experience in an accredited laboratory (ACD, CAP, CLIA, etc.) and/or with ISO requirements is preferred.
  • Expertise in cancer genomics and current next-generation sequencing technologies and informatics platforms.
  • Excellent organizational, writing, and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of the Ontario cancer genomic medicine ecosystem, including familiarity with key. genomic sequencing laboratory heads and capabilities of different labs.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
