Requisition ID: 196846Join a purpose driven winning team, committed to results, in an inclusive and high-performing culture.Assits the design, implementation, and maintenance of the Bank\'s model risk governance process for models including market risk, retail and non-retail credit risk, operational risk, capital, and treasury models, among others, across both domestic and international portfolios.This position is part of the Model Risk Governance unit within Global Model Risk Management (GMRM), which provides self-governing and consistent model validation, approval, and governance across various risk portfolios.Job Responsibilities:Assits the design, review, and enhancement process for the Bank\'s enterprise-wide Model Risk Management Policy, taking into account applicable regulatory requirements and input from internal stakeholders.Manages the relationships with the Bank\'s material subsidiaries and key international markets on behalf of Model Risk Governance, Global Model Risk Management. This will include assisting local teams with implementing and managing model risk management processes, managing stakeholder relationships, and providing advice and counsel on model risk management practices and policies.Ensures that an accurate and up to date inventory of models is maintained in the inventory platform and manages the process to ensure accuracy and reliability of model inventory data. Ensure completeness of the model inventory by assisting the model inventory attestation process across all areas of the Bank.Manages the compliance testing of approved model conditions and oversees/creates the accuracy testing of the model inventory.Assits the design, review and ongoing enhancement process for issue identification, assessment and resolution through relevant policies and procedures and ensure model related issues are appropriately tracked and captured in all relevant processes.Assits the design, review and ongoing model performance monitoring process for assessment and remediation through relevant policies and procedures and ensure model related exceptions are appropriately tracked and captured in all relevant processes.Assits the design, review, and ongoing enhancement of the model risk rating methodology to assist the assessment of model risk in a consistent manner across model types.Assits Senior Management and Board Reporting by reconcilling and assisting the process for generating model risk reports for board and senior management.Assits ongoing governance activities as required including attestations for compliance with model risk policy, regulatory report, assessment of new risk initiatives, etc.Assits business units, MVA, BGRO, Audit, Finance and others for information requests related to model governance and model inventory.Participates in researching industry best practices in model risk management and model risk governance, with particular attestation to regulatory and audit expectations.Assits the Power BI Model Inventory Reporting Platform to ensure accuracy and data integrity.Creates presentations decks for management and leads the discussion of results.Understands how the Bank\'s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.Champions a high-performance environment and contributes to an inclusive work environment.Job Requirements:The incumbent is required to have a Bachelor\'s degree in Business, Data Science, Mathematics, Economics, or degree in business related fields with strong reporting experience preferred.5+ years of related experience in risk management, audit or a related risk identification and reporting function. Modeling knowledge is preferred.Strong software skills (i.e., data analysis and report development, SQL, Power BI, Excel, R, Python etc.)Strong knowledge of internal control design, implementation, testing and documentationKnowledge on financial products and models used for various purposesGood knowledge on databases and systems for model inventory management (IBM OpenPages)Excellent problem solver and analytical thinker, able to work independently through obstaclesProactive, self-directed, and able to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team.Strong written and communication skills with an ability to convey complex technical issues simply.Ability to manage efficiently multiple priorities in order to deliver work under tight deadlines.Fluency in Spanish is an asset.Location(s): Canada : Ontario : TorontoScotiabank is a leading bank in the Americas.
