Position Summary
CSIO is seeking a dynamic and strategic Senior Manager, Marketing & Business Development to lead our efforts in revenue generation, brand elevation, and partnership growth, and reduce our reliance on government funding. This leadership role will work closely with the CEO, Director of Corporate Services, and Sport Performance Division to articulate CSIO's value proposition, expand our reach, and drive sustainable growth.
The Senior Manager will be responsible for the development and implementation of a comprehensive business development plan through corporate programs, community partnerships, events, philanthropic efforts, and various grant funding opportunities.
The Senior Manager will collaborate closely with both the Sport Performance and Corporate Services divisions to create and execute initiatives that strengthen relationships with existing partners and clients, while also exploring new opportunities through sales optimization and innovative product development.
The role includes responsibility for evaluating the effectiveness of our business development efforts using regularly tracked key performance indicators.
The Senior Manager will also be responsible for leading and implementing CSIO's major events, leading the organization's overall communications strategy, and uphold the CSIO and COPSIN branding guidelines.
Position Responsibilities
Business Development and Partnerships
? Lead the development and execution of a comprehensive business development strategy that aligns with the CSIO Strategic Plan and objectives, and is inclusive of sport partners, corporate and community business opportunities.
? Collaborate with COPSIN Marketing, Communications, and Business Development partners to drive and advance innovative revenue generation initiatives and elevate the COPSIN Advantage across Canada.
? Identify, evaluate, and implement new business opportunities, including facility monetization, joint ventures, partnerships, and service delivery to non-traditional customer bases.
? Work in collaboration with our Sport Performance Division to optimize the relationship with existing sport partners (NSOs, PSOs, and Professional clubs), while identifying new opportunities to expand our reach and impact.
? Refine and optimize pricing models and packages of services to a wide spectrum of potential customers.
? Lead philanthropic initiatives and donor engagement aligned with CSIO's mission.
? Identify, secure, and promote meaningful strategic community partnerships that deliver mutual value and impact to both CSIO and our athletes (e.g. wellness suppliers, athlete benefits, equipment suppliers, etc.), enhancing the athlete experience.
? Work collaboratively across CSIO teams and departments to nurture existing corporate relationships and uncover new avenues for sales, driving CSIO to become a trusted partner in high performance sport experiences.
? Collaborate with internal teams to ensure accurate data capture and analyze engagement metrics to generate actionable insights that demonstrate our impact and strengthen our value proposition.
? Define and prioritize data requirements aligned with CSIO's business development KPIs.
? Monitor and interpret market trends, industry shifts, and competitor activity to uncover emerging opportunities, informing decision making and positioning CSIO for sustainable growth in a rapidly evolving sport landscape.
? Translate insights into action by sharing key findings with internal teams and help develop and guide tactical and strategic planning to lead marketing, events, and partnership initiatives.
Marketing, Communications and Events
? Develop and implement a marketing strategy and annual operating plan that drives brand awareness, engagement, and revenue.
? Become the brand ambassador of CSIO; carry a deep understanding of our mission and value proposition and translate that into compelling narratives that "sell" our expertise, inspire trust, and drive sales and engagement.
? Collaborate with sport science and medicine experts to develop compelling, value-driven sales materials that showcase CSIO's unique capabilities and transformative impact on athlete performance.
? Develop engaging digital and print content, including website, social media, brochures, campaigns, and educational videos that bring CSIO's world-class facilities and expert staff to life.
? Contribute to the development of an event strategy that aligns with CSIO's overall revenue generation and business development objectives.
? Lead the end-to-end planning, promotion, and execution of high impact events and workshops, ensuring they are effectively marketed to target audiences, and delivered to the highest quality standards.
? Take the lead in producing a "Digital Learning Experience Series" - helping us to scale our knowledge, develop potential sales channels and opportunities.
? Develop a Communications Strategy for the organization and oversee the implementation of an annual Communications operating plan, ensuring alignment with COPSIN to amplify the COPSIN Advantage.
Media
? Serve as CSIO's lead media liaison, representing the organization with professionalism and clarity in all external communications.
? Craft impactful press releases and key messages that reflect CSIO's mission, vision, and values.
? Build and maintain relationships with media outlets, government communications teams, and sport-specific liaisons to elevate CSIO's profile.
? Empower staff with media training and messaging support to ensure consistent and confident representation.
? Monitor media trends and coverage to inform strategic storytelling and engagement.
Administrative
? Contribute to CSIO's strategic direction as a member of the Senior Management Team, shaping initiatives that advance our mission.
? Lead and mentor a high-performing team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability.
? Oversee departmental budgeting, reporting, and performance measurement to ensure alignment with organizational goals.
? Support the CEO and Board with strategic reporting and insights that demonstrate impact and guide decision-making.
? Champion risk management practices that protect CSIO's reputation and operational integrity.
? Represent CSIO in sector-wide committees and initiatives contributing to the advancement of high performance sport in Canada
Relationships
? Work closely with the CEO, Director, Corporate Services and Senior Management Team.
? Work with all staff to ensure accurate storytelling and brand alignment of CSIO.
? Provide leadership and management for direct reports.
? Main point of contact for external media, sport media, and third-party media marketing agencies.
? Build and maintain relationships with sponsors, PSOs, NSOs, Coaches and Athletes.
? Work with legal counsel to ensure compliance.

Qualification and Skills
? 10+years of progressive experience in marketing, business development, or related role.
? Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, business, or related field of study.
? Experience working in a sport-related industry or in a non-profit organization.
? Proven ability to lead media relations and develop strategic communications.
? Knowledge of the Canadian sport landscape and stakeholders is a requirement.
? Strong event planning and sponsorship management skills.
? Proven project management skills. Project management training and certification is an asset.
? Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
? Excellent written and verbal communications skills, including public speaking.
? Proficiency in digital tools including Drupal, Adobe Creative Suite, and other communication tools including metrics used to evaluate social media and media traffic.
? Working knowledge of design programs and coding an asset.

Pay: $75,000.00-$90,000.00 per year
