What You'll Be Doing
Fusion is a critical team within CIBC's Chief Security Office, dedicated to safeguarding the organization's assets, data, and operations against a wide array of threats and risks. Team Fusion utilizes an integrated global threat and risk management approach that spans the CIBC Enterprise globally, to mitigate risks, reduce losses, address increasingly complex threats and deliver advanced readiness capabilities to protect our clients, team members, and the Bank. Fusion delivers a cross-pillar approach, bringing together people, process, technology, and data, fostering collaboration and information sharing across many domains, providing a holistic view of the risk landscape, and supporting informed and timely decision-making aligned to CIBC objectives. CIBC Fusion Response is responsible for protecting our clients and CIBC by holistically combatting threats and active incidents which cross multiple domains including Technology, Corporate Security, Information/Cyber Security, Fraud, and other operational business disruptions. Fusion Response is responsible for the overall coordination and orchestration of response and recovery activities for enterprise-level operational incidents to reduce loss and better enable our client's ambitions to become a reality. This is an individual contributor role reporting directly to the Director, Fusion Response to deliver effective, coordinated response and recovery orchestration services for enterprise-impacting operational disruption incidents. The role is responsible for leading and supporting enterprise-level incident response and recovery orchestration efforts of varying levels of severity and complexity as assigned.

This position will require flexibility in managing priorities to meet the demands and the overall objectives of the business. Workload can be particularly heavy during times of high-impact and/or multiple concurrent incidents.
How you'll succeed

  • Operational Effectiveness: Lead effective, coordinated response and recovery orchestration services for complex enterprise-level and client-impacting operational disruption incidents. Perform incident analysis and triage actions to determine impact/urgency/audience of emergent issues and take action to coordinate Fusion and pillar responses as quickly and efficiently as possible. Leverage highly-specialized expertise to manage various lines of business and related service providers. Incidents can involve solutions that are typically new, rapidly evolving/changing and complex, requiring creativity/innovation and lateral thinking to address unique operational issues and concerns. Lead efforts to troubleshoot issues, find resolution and make it right for impacted businesses and clients.
  • Fusion response: Lead or support ongoing improvement of Fusion Response incident management capability; including interaction models, playbook designs, case management process, and all operational procedures as assigned to meet operational requirements and our evolving threat landscape. Follow Fusion processes, action assigned, and ensure they are carried out to a high standard, and ensure leadership is kept abreast of activities. Ensure tasks Fusion Response assigns to incident response stakeholders are tracked and managed to completion within assigned timelines.
  • Documentation: Collect and document incident-related data, facilitate and solution recovery and resolution of incidents in a timely fashion, and communicate findings to business partners. Participate in and support preparedness exercises to effectively test the Fusion Response and other supporting incident stakeholders' understanding of roles, procedures, and build muscle memory for effective response. Achieve assigned measurable performance objectives within timelines, and work with people leader to meet professional development goals. Maintain and apply advanced knowledge of constantly changing, and complex, industry information and trends, in order to ensure CIBC's incident response practices meet and exceed desired standards
  • Cross-functional relationships: Partner with stakeholders, globally, to continuously evolve incident response capabilities, assess potential gaps and trends, and lead task forces to address them holistically, when assigned. Promote a shared sense of mission to protect our clients and CIBC through a culture of information-sharing and collaboration. Function as an informal leader within the area of specialization, providing technical guidance and professional advice on complex and conceptual issues to colleagues managing work packages. Provide guidance and coaching to less-experienced team members to support their development and overall team effectiveness.
Who you are
  • You can demonstrate 6-8 years of experience in information/cybersecurity, fraud, physical security, operational risk, or other relevant experience. You have Previous operations experience in a financial services institution (bank, insurance, wealth management, credit card networks), or a financial market instrument (payments, clearing, or settlement systems) in either an incident response or business operations role. You have understanding of business continuity, cybersecurity, fraud, technology incident response, or operational risk. It is an asset if you have an Understanding or experience with financial services regulatory landscapes (Canada, USA, UK/Ireland, Europe, Asia-Pacific regions). Experience leading operational business incident management and response is a definite asset
  • You're a certified professional. You have current accreditation and good standing in Emergency Management, Technology Incident Management(ITIL), Business Continuity (CBCP), Risk Management(CRISC, CGRC)
