About the team you are joining



You will join the Training and Flight Standards Team within the IATA Flight and Technical Operations Department. The Training and Flight Standards Team interacts works with States, airlines, and international organizations to develop and promote harmonized flight operations and training standards. Within this framework, the team works at enhancing flight operations standards and regulatory compliance, ensuring safety, efficiency, and sustainability.


What your day would be like


Reporting to the Senior Manager Flight Standards, you will be responsible for helping define, implement and coordinate all aspects of the IATA Flight Operations and Technical Operations Department's priorities, related to the flight operations regulatory affairs area. You will also be responsible to advocate IATA's positions and to ensure that flight operations policies are consistently developed and coordinated internally.

In this role, you will:




Ensure the coordination of the relevant IATA Advisory Councils and working groups activities, in relation to the flight operations area.

Support the secretary of the Flight Operations Group (FOG) for the preparation and the conduct of the FOG meetings.

Participate in the definition of IATA's strategy for the flight operations area and support the implementation of the subsequent key priorities.

Promote IATA's initiatives regarding flight operations towards the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), States, regulators and Industry stakeholders such as the International Coordination Council of Aerospace Industry Associations (ICCAIA), aircraft manufacturers (Airbus, Boeing, Embraer, etc.) This activity includes participating in international operations symposiums, conferences, workshops, etc.

Participate to the ICAO Flight Operations Panel as an advisor to the Senior Manager Flight Standards.

Support the design and implementation of flight operations standards with industry partners such as EASA, FAA, IFALPA, ICCAIA, in the following areas, but not limited to:

- All weather operations (AWO)

- Extended diversion time operations (EDTO)

- Performance-based navigation (PBN)

- Operations that necessitate special approvals


Lead the development of guidance materials related to flight operations.


Support the delivery of the IATA consultancy services in the relevant area.

Support the Head of Training and Flight Standards to drive new initiatives to enhance safety, efficiency, and sustainability, as well as to help identify commercial opportunities of value to our members and IATA.

Lead and coordinate the establishment and promotion of appropriate flight operations efficiency metrics, together with the support of the IATA Operations, Safety and Security (OSS) Data team.

The incumbent also ensures that all the above activities are coordinated with the IATA regions and other IATA stakeholders, e.g., Members & External Relations, Commercial Products and Services, etc.



We would love to hear from you if



University degree in aviation management or equivalent work experience

Proven knowledge of ICAO standards and/or States regulation, and ability to develop and implement sustainable procedures in civil aviation operations

Experience working within major aviation regulatory bodies, such as EASA, FAA, etc., would be an advantage.

Experience as a commercial pilot in a multi crew airline operation would be an advantage.

Experience as regulatory compliance manager or flight standards manager would be an advantage.

The ability to drive collaboration and knowledge exchange across IATA, including our regions as well as with external partners is essential.

Knowledge and experience in managing and implementing projects would be an advantage.

Appropriate IT skills, particularly with MS Office.





Travel Required: 10%
