If so, please keep reading as our real estate client in the Mississauga area is looking to add a Senior Manager, Financial Reporting and Special Projects to the team.

The Senior Manager, Financial Reporting & Special Projects will be responsible for developing new accounting processes, participating in corporate finance transactions and monitoring regulatory and IFRS developments, all arising from recent developments in the industry. The incumbent will also assist with quarterly and annual financial reporting processes and will develop strong relationships with other groups within the company. The successful candidate has strong technical accounting knowledge acquired in a public company reporting environment and is passionate about challenging status-quo and improving processes.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Assess significant corporate contracts and interpreted bank loan agreements for initial and continuing financial reporting implications.
  • Streamline and create standardized processes for incremental lender reporting requirements.
  • Provide support to team with the preparation of quarterly and annual MD&A, financial statements, press releases, investor presentations and AIF.
  • Assist with IFRS research and accounting policy implementation.
  • Provide financial reporting support and memorandum on corporate finance transactions and assist with complex financial reporting areas such as impairment testing.
  • Assist with development of new accounting process.
  • Act as lead for implementation of financial reporting systems and upgrades to systems.
  • Assist with special projects as they relate to dispositions, acquisitions, intercompany analysis, developments, restructurings and other transaction support.
  • Maintain systems of internal controls for areas of accountability and ensure documentation of such systems is kept up to date.
  • Assist with quarterly and annual regulatory financial reporting and filing processes.
  • Monitor developments under IFRS and regulatory reporting.
  • Develop strong working relationships throughout all levels of the organization.
  • Develop strong working relationships with the auditors and other external advisors.
  • Other duties as required.

Job Requirements:
  • University degree and professional accounting designation (CA preferred) or equivalent work experience.
  • 2+ years in senior financial management positions.
  • 7+ years in accounting and finance roles.
  • Strong knowledge of public company financial reporting and externally filed documents (required).
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS and experience with interpreting and implementing complex accounting issues (required).
  • Strong communication and presentation skills (required).
  • Knowledge of the real estate and healthcare specific accounting principles (preferred).
  • Experience providing support on corporate finance transactions including acquisitions/disposals/reorganizations (preferred).
