Job Description


Job purpose

  • Responsibilities include management of accounts payable, accounts receivable, treasury, maintain intercompany balances, T & E, general ledger, balance sheet and P&L account analysis, accounting, financial analysis, as well as leading and mentoring a staff. Support the development and recommend financial framework/practices/control procedures to achieve business objectives.
Duties and responsibilities
  • Manage all monthly closing functions in accordance with U.S. GAAP standard and company timeline.
  • Develop and enforce internal controls to maximize protection of company assets, policies, procedures and workflows in the areas of G/L accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, treasury, intercompany transactions and payroll entries.
  • Ensure cash flow forecasts are updated to support the company hedging program and manage local bank investments to maximize returns.
  • Prepare and review of working capital needs of the organization on a quarterly basis
  • Lead the company wide budgeting process for all Canadian operations and commercial activities along with ensuring key budget milestones are met for Taro Pharma and Sun Pharma.
  • Responsible for quarterly latest estimates for Taro Pharma and Sun Pharma
  • Review monthly close work paper support to ensure accuracy and in compliance to Sarbanes Oxley controls.
  • Responsible for coordinating quarterly auditor reviews and year-end audit processes.
  • Review monthly management reports with adherence to budget, prepare ad hoc analysis as needed.
  • Maintain a solid understanding of SAP ERP system and its integration with the finance module.
  • Leadership role in initiatives and improvements of business processes with other Business Units and promote ideas through the entire group to ensure systems and operational processes meet the ongoing departmental needs.
  • Relationship management - ensuring accuracy and integrity of data flow along with productive and cordial relationships with customers, operations and other departments including IT, HR, Quality, Operations and R&D
  • Primary contact on behalf of Taro and Sun Canada for banks and government entities.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Mentor, guide, evaluate and review direct reports\' performance.
  • Take the lead on various special projects as they arise.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor\'s degree in Accounting, CPA, and thorough understanding of Accounting Principles.
  • Eight+ years accounting experience, with progressive increase in roles and responsibilities.
  • Effective communicator.
  • Few years in public accounting experience is an asset.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to lead a team.
  • Working knowledge of Sarbanes Oxley required.
  • Thorough understanding of all phases of accounting is a must.
  • Advanced excel skill is a must.
  • SAP experience is a must.
  • High level of technical, analytical and interpersonal skills with the ability to proactively resolve issues.
  • Working knowledge of manual and automated accounting systems in a manufacturing environment.
