Primary Function:



The Senior Manager, Event Operations is primarily responsible for overall event management and administration, as well as leadership of Senior Event Managers, Event Managers and Event Operations Managers. This position plays a pivotal role in planning and developing event policies and procedures. The Senior Manager, Event Operations will play a key role in the planning and implementation of FIFA 2026 World Cup matches at BC Place, as well as other marquee events held at the stadium. This role supports the Director, Events & Guest Experience with all department responsibilities, and collaborates closely with Guest Experience, Business Development & Event Sales, Safety & Security and Facility Operations to ensure seamless operations for event execution.



Key Responsibilities:



Leadership

Participates in overall stadium management and acts in accordance with Pavco's values, mission and strategies; Keeps abreast of industry trends and identifies priority issues that need to be addressed and initiatives to be undertaken; Provides mentoring, leadership, training and direction to the Event Operations team members, to advance their roles aligning with BC Place's vision of becoming a world leader in event management; Reviews and manages team members' performance and development plans to ensure goals and objectives are met; Manages and resolves conflicts amongst team members to foster a healthy and collaborative team dynamic; Steps in to act in the director's role when they are unavailable.

Events and Department Administration

Develops and manages departmental financial budgets, reports on variances and updates forecast targets; In collaboration with the Senior Project Manager, prepares special reports or feasibility studies involving all areas of event operations and management to identify improvements and efficiencies; Chairs or participates in meetings, working groups, and project committees including preparing business cases and decision notes for event operations and management related requests; Reviews all staff and services estimates, invoices and final billings, prior to them being shared with clients; Hires and onboards new team members as needed, ensuring they align with departmental goals and company culture; Actively participates in department meetings, business planning, professional development, industry activities, and special projects; Contributes to processes, standards, and ongoing improvements; Schedules Event Operations Managers in Dayforce.

Event Management and Supervision

Develops policies, processes and protocols to support best practices in event management and service delivery; Coaches and mentors the team on the importance of policies and protocols; Strategizes with team members on potential problem areas or conflicts; Collects, tracks, and reports on event statistics.

Event Organization

Provides on-site client liaison during events; Provides problem-solving and support for clients; Ensures ongoing communication with staff and suppliers regarding event details and event changes; Supports and empowers the team in the planning and implementation of FIFA 2026 World Cup matches, as well as other high-profile events at BC Place.

Position Competencies:



Degree or recognized certification in Hospitality or Facilities management or applicable academic training in management or business; Minimum 5 years' experience in the Event Management and/or Hospitality industry supervising others, budgeting, and event costing; IT, digital and media literate including the use of desktop programs, and social media; proficient in Microsoft Office and other related software; Proficiency with Momentus (Event Business Management System), or a similar event business management system an asset; A proven track record of using innovation in support of events and service excellence delivery; Demonstrated ability to set and achieve high performance standards and achieve them through collaborating with the department and extended team; High level of analytical and interpersonal skills, including strong written and verbal communication; Good organizational skills; ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and tasks at one time; Experience with working in a unionized environment, and the daily administration of a collective bargaining agreement; Ability to work flexible hours supporting events including evenings, weekends and holidays; Guided by values that align with BC Place values and committed to service excellence.

The salary range for this position is $96,441 - $120,551.

Offers will be in line with PavCo's internal pay equity and qualified candidate's experience and education. Salary discussion and overall compensation package will be presented during initial phone interviews.
