Position Summary
The Senior Manager, Day Services, provides visionary and operational leadership for Mind Forward's community-based Adult Day Programs, which deliver therapeutic, social, and skill-building activities for adults living with acquired brain injury (ABI). This role is critical for ensuring service excellence, team cohesion, and regulatory compliance. The successful candidate will leverage extensive leadership experience, particularly within a unionized environment, and a strong background in rehabilitation, healthcare, and Recreation Therapy to foster program innovation and growth.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Leadership and Operational Management
Provide overall strategic and day-to-day operational leadership for all Day Services programs across multiple locations.
Ensure the design, implementation, and evaluation of all programs are client-centred, evidence-based, and align with the principles of rehabilitation and therapeutic recreation.
Manage program budgets, administrative processes, resource allocation, and reporting to ensure fiscal responsibility and operational efficiency.
Ensure full compliance with all relevant legislation, policies, and funder requirements (e.g., Ontario Health, organizational policies, health and safety).
Staff Management and Labour Relations
Directly manage, mentor, and supervise a multidisciplinary team of managers and frontline staff.
Apply extensive knowledge of collective agreements and labour law to effectively manage staff relations, including contract interpretation, performance management, attendance management, and grievance resolution up to and including the second stage.
Foster a collaborative, respectful, and high-performance culture within a unionized setting.
Oversee recruitment, orientation, professional development, and annual performance appraisals for Day Services personnel.
Clinical and Interprofessional Collaboration
Ensure the robust integration of therapeutic modalities, particularly Recreation Therapy, within all Day Services programming to maximize client recovery, community integration, and quality of life.
Liaise closely with the Clinical Team (e.g., clinical managers, therapists) to ensure client care plans are appropriately translated into day program activities and supports.
Collaborate with the Executive Team (including the CPO) on organizational strategy, program development initiatives, and system-level partnerships.
Risk Management and On-Call Duties
Lead quality improvement and risk management initiatives for Day Services.
Participate in a scheduled on-call rotation to provide immediate senior-level support and decision-making for urgent operational and clinical issues outside of regular business hours (evenings, weekends, holidays).
Required Qualifications
Education and Experience
Minimum of five (5) years of progressive management experience in a healthcare, social services, or community rehabilitation setting.
Minimum of three (3) years of proven, direct experience leading teams within a unionized environment.
Post-secondary degree in a relevant clinical discipline such as Recreation Therapy
,
Occupational Therapy, Social Work, Health Administration, or a related field.
Knowledge and Skills
In-depth knowledge of rehabilitation principles and practices, especially as applied to acquired brain injury (ABI).
Demonstrated expertise in labour relations and collective agreement administration.
Exceptional organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
Superior verbal, written communication, and presentation skills.
Additional Requirements
A valid G-class Ontario Driver's License (or equivalent).
Reliable access to a personal vehicle is mandatory for travel across service regions and to respond to on-call responsibilities.
Ability to obtain a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Police Check.

Pay: $73,950.00-$79,254.00 per year
