Purpose of Job:

Working within Global Risk Management (GRM), the Senior Manager, Data Analytics & Governance focuses on data driven analyses resulting in useful insights that improve the Bank\xe2\x80\x99s Operational Risk performance. Additionally, the role contributes to the implementation of enterprise data policies and standards by managing key data processes for the Global Operational Risk (GOR) team.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development, implementation, and monitoring of GOR data strategies to minimize Operational Risk events and assist business line decision making.
  • Lead ad-hoc analysis that provide useful intelligence to improve Operational Risk understanding and identify opportunities to improve risk/reward tradeoff. Assess current/emerging trends that may impact GOR, communicate root causes and undesirable trends affecting risk tolerance through segmentation analytics and early warning triggers.
  • Deliver key analytics projects in partnership with enterprise data & analytics teams, GOR teams and business partners
  • Recommend improvements to existing processes to assist data analytics, including data collection in Source systems
  • Introduce changes under a test/control framework to help drive purpose, evidence-based decisions
  • Work closely with leadership teams to create data strategies that assist data modeling
  • Act as liaison between Data Office/Data Risk and GOR to communicate requirements ensuring compliance with data standards/ requirements
  • Data governance and stewardship assist, including data quality, data lineage, and data change management
  • Manages projects to deliver data changes, process updates, and audit/RDARR/OSFI deliverables
  • Conducts or assists detailed analysis and investigations of data feed and defect issues impacting monthly processes and/or data quality
  • Conducts or assists data trending and reasonability checks
  • Prepares management and technical presentations, interfaces with senior management and business users to document business requirements, data and information needs, and data exchange flow and provides assist/requirements for user acceptance testing
  • Manages communication with business partners and effectively communicates with the technology groups as well as data users in GOR and throughout GRM
  • Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
  • Understand how the Bank\xe2\x80\x99s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook, and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.

Job Requirements:
  • Minimum of 5 years of data centred experience, preferably in a bank / financial institution
  • Experience in statistical & quantitative analysis
  • Experience in programming (SAS/Python/R) and databases (SQL, DB2) knowledge; ability to process and assess large volumes of data
  • Experience in use of PowerBI, Tableau, or other data visualization tools
  • Experience with Operational Risk platforms and methodologies, and their application in judicious decision making, is strongly desired
  • Strong communication and presentation skills complemented with solid problem-solving skills
  • Growth mindset with noetic curiosity, proactiveness and passion for continuous learning
  • Solid interpersonal skills with ability to build judicious relationships and influence stakeholders
  • Ability to present complex information in a simplified way to various audiences
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree or higher, preferably in Economics, Finance, Statistics, Industrial Engineer, Mathematics, Computer science, or Information technology related discipline
  • Fluency in Spanish is an asset
