Overview

Are you a security management leader with experience developing, executing, and monitoring comprehensive corporate security and emergency management strategies and programs? If so, we have a senior role in our Corporate Security and Emergency Management team that will require you to impact and lead decision-making practices for all security, emergency management, and threat management matters throughout our large, corporate environment.

We\xe2\x80\x99re seeking a collaborator and relationship builder to lead our corporate security team with a foundation of extensive corporate security risk management knowledge. Where you\xe2\x80\x99ll work

At WorkSafeBC, we offer a hybrid work model that combines the convenience of working remotely with the dynamism of working in one of our offices, based on the operational needs of the position.

In this role, you\xe2\x80\x99ll work primarily from our Richmond, B.C. office with opportunities to work remotely from your home office. Occasional travel to other WorkSafeBC offices across the province will be required.

What you\'ll do

  • Manage Corporate Security and Emergency Management operations to ensure effective service delivery and risk mitigation.
  • Develop and implement departmental business plans aligned with strategic objectives, adjusting activities as needed.
  • Ensure adherence to policies and standards, providing guidance on operational matters.
  • Provide leadership and support on corporate security and emergency management to senior leadership.
  • Cultivate strategic relationships to advance organizational vision and objectives.
  • Promote a service-oriented approach, addressing client needs promptly.
  • Participate in policy development and business planning, collaborating with management across divisions.
  • Manage and develop staff, fostering a supportive work environment and addressing labour relations.

  • Effectively manages and directs the Corporate Security and Emergency Management team, ensuring service excellence and risk mitigation.
  • Develops and maintains productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, advancing organizational objectives.
  • Adjusts activities and plans to meet changing conditions and align with strategic objectives.
  • Ensures adherence to organizational policies and standards, providing guidance to staff and stakeholders.
  • Creates a supportive work environment, fostering teamwork and recognizing employee contributions.
  • Leads internal emergency response efforts and maintains readiness for emergent events, ensuring effective communication and action.
  • Be available 24/7 to provide immediate response and/or direction to staff for issues and incidents related to corporate security or emergency management
  • Enjoys occasional business travel and has a demonstrated willingness to undertake special projects or assignments.
Your background and experience
  • A post-secondary degree in a related discipline such as criminology or emergency/security management
  • A minimum of 7 years of progressive leadership roles with experience in corporate security, law enforcement, people and asset protection or an investigations environment, preferably in a unionized environment
  • Strong experience in corporate security risk management practices
  • Extensive operations management and supervisory experience
  • Comprehensive leadership skills
  • Strong investigation, analytics and report writing skills
  • Strong systems and problem-solving skills
Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.

Salary: $135,362 - $164,465/annually
