Department Overview

The Corporate and Public Affairs (CAPA) department aims to inspire and connect our customers, communities and colleagues through communications, conversations and advocacy that enrich lives, deliver business outcomes and enhance our brand. As a member of CAPA\'s Canadian Personal Banking team, you will help deliver best-in-class external and internal communications to help differentiate TD in the market, elevate our brand and deliver exceptional colleague experiences. We make an impact by helping the business drive growth, realize change, and deliver outcomes, and we protect and enhance TD\'s reputation by providing expert advice and sound counsel.

Job Requirements

  • 12+ years of experience in a corporate communications or agency environment, or comparable communications experience.
  • Experience leading teams of communications professionals, ideally in financial services or large, publicly-traded company.
  • Superior writing and editing skills, and a passion for storytelling, especially in the digital space.
  • Demonstrated experience creating strategy and developing and executing ambitious media plans and driving business outcomes.
  • Excellent judgment and proven experience providing communications advice and counsel to senior leaders.
  • Ability to drive an agenda and influence stakeholders to bring about the right outcomes.
  • Proven ability to navigate in a complex or ambiguous environment, managing multiple high-priority projects or deliverables.
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex issues which pose significant reputational risk, and understanding of impact to the business, our customers and other key stakeholders.
  • Undergraduate degree or PR/marketing/corporate communications certification, designations, or equivalent required.

  • Lead the team developing and executing external and internal communications for Canadian Branch Banking.
  • Design and deliver compelling communications for the EVP of Branch Banking for both BAU and signature events throughout the year.
  • Partner closely with key stakeholders across CPB to drive internal communications and activities that support business objectives and help build awareness of business strategy.
  • Deliver sound advice and counsel on a number of sensitive customer issues, with goal of supporting customers and mitigating reputational risk.
  • Use exceptional writing skills to develop customer-centric positioning in all media messaging and ensure customer-facing teams are prepared to respond to public issues impacting TD or the industry.
  • Lead issues management for Canadian Branch Banking, acting as a spokesperson when required, and providing business partners, control partners and senior leaders with advice and counsel to effectively manage issues and protect and enhance TD\'s brand and reputation.
  • Provide coaching and career development opportunities and guidance to direct reports and contribute to development of skills across the department.
