Join the RBC Corporate Communications team and help support Wealth Management Canada's ongoing growth and reputation for industry leading advice.
What will you do?

  • Oversee and leverage external opportunities that enhance the profile of Wealth Management Canada's various lines of business, including Dominion Securities, PH&N Investment Counsel, RBC Direct Investing, Royal Trust and RBC Private Banking.
  • Develop and implement communications plans to position RBC Wealth Management Canada as a thought leader, innovator and employer of choice. Work with internal subject matter experts to develop and deliver high-impact thought-leadership campaigns that help achieve business strategies.
  • Develop, manage and maintain relationships with key trade and business media. Identify and pitch story opportunities. Serve as a primary point of contact for media inquiries.
  • Manage end-to end proactive media relations: craft press releases, coordinate spokesperson interviews, ensure consistent and impactful messaging.
  • Train company leaders as media spokespersons as needed and maintain a strong bench of approved spokespeople.
  • Lead media measurement and reporting, demonstrating and analyzing results and impact of media activities.
  • Monitor and analyze industry trends, competitor activities, and market developments to identify opportunities for promoting the RBC Wealth Management Canada brand and messaging.
  • Anticipate and manage reputational risks; provide issues management counsel, develop communications strategies, and key messages to brief senior leaders and respond to internal and external inquiries. Collaborate as needed with key stakeholders and functional partners (HR, Legal, Compliance, etc.)
  • Contribute to RBC Wealth Management's content strategy through idea generation, research, writing, editing and multi-purposing of original content and thought leadership collateral.
  • Collaborate with RBC communications and marketing colleagues, as well as global teams to highlight Wealth Management Canada's advice capabilities, thought leadership, ESG and community giving support.
  • Support senior executives in key lines of business through the development of proactive media opportunities externally, as well as building profile for them internally.
What do you need to succeed?
Must Have
  • 7-10 years of communications experience in a corporate or agency environment
  • Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism or related discipline
  • Extensive external and internal communications experience including proactive media relations, issues management and social media
  • Strategic thinker with excellent interpersonal skills and can successfully work across functions and businesses for a large global business
  • Creative story teller with outstanding written and verbal communications skills
  • Ability to facilitate between and influence executives and key decision makers
  • Experience providing strategic communications counsel for executives and senior leaders
  • Team player who likes to build relationships and thrives in a fast paced, large corporate environment

  • Knowledge of financial/wealth management sector
