What will be your daily pursuit?Reporting to the Director, Media & Communications, this role is responsible for the development and execution of external communications and public relations strategies to build positive brand awareness of Pursuit as a global attractions and hospitality brand. The candidate for this role will be focused on delivering an integrated communications strategy that tells Pursuit\xe2\x80\x99s story, protects our reputation, and elevates our brand.The ideal candidate will be an experienced corporate communicator with exceptionally strong writing skills and an innate interest in uncovering and telling great stories of Pursuit and its people.The Senior Manager, Communications should be comfortable balancing strategic thinking with proactive, tactical execution and should possess a strong track record in developing and maintaining relationships with key media in the travel, lifestyle and business press. Working within Pursuit\xe2\x80\x99s media and communications team, and working closely with the marketing team, operation managers, key stakeholders and partners, this role will help to advance our business, strengthen our communities and differentiate our brand.LocationThis role offers a hybrid work-from office/work-from-home environment, with Pursuit\xe2\x80\x99s marketing and sales team office based in Calgary.   • Develop and implement a communications strategy to create positive brand awareness of Pursuit as a global attractions and hospitality brand.
  • Build positive awareness of Pursuit through media relations and community outreach initiatives.
  • Own the external communications strategy and execution surrounding Pursuit\xe2\x80\x99s Promise to Place and other corporate social responsibility initiatives.
  • Champion and help celebrate Pursuit\xe2\x80\x99s people through thought leadership opportunities.
  • Develop communications materials including key message development, executive speeches, opt-ed pieces, press relations, annual reports and other communication material as required.
  • Support crisis communications and issues management, developing key messaging and working with internal and external stakeholders to protect and manage the reputation of the brand.
  • Provide strategic external communications counsel to senior leadership and key stakeholders including managing ongoing media training as needed.
  • Build strong relationships with senior leadership and work collaboratively with other internal stakeholders to develop and communicate Pursuit\xe2\x80\x99s top stories and strategic messages.
  • Manage budgets, as well as PR agencies and other external support organizations.
  • Serve as media spokesperson as required.
What skills and experience do you need for this job?
  • Minimum 6 - 8 years corporate communications/ public relations experience.
  • Experience working in corporate communications for a geographically diverse, global brand.
  • 5+ years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in travel, tourism or hospitality preferred.
  • University degree in Public Relations, Journalism, Communications or relevant professional experience.
  • Experience in executing impactful external communication strategies that result in continued positive earned coverage.
  • Possess exceptionally strong writing skills.
  • Experience developing key messaging and managing crisis communications issues.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with all levels of management.
  • Ability to manage a team to execute successful campaigns.
  • Desire to work in a fast-paced, always-on organization.
  • Ability to travel internationally.
