Senior Manager Business Planning & Communications, Canadian Business Banking

Purpose

Reporting to the Director Sales Effectiveness & Sales Enablement, the Senior Manager, Business Planning and Communications leads and oversees the development, implementation and coordination of business planning & communications across Canadian Business Banking ensuring business strategies, plans and initiatives are executed / delivered in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

This position is both strategy-focused and execution-oriented. The scope is diverse, complex and requires expertise in collaboration. The incumbent will be involved with cross-functional project/implementation teams and use negotiation/influencing skills to ensure progress and delivery on a timely basis. The environment is fast paced, demanding and will at times require priorities to be re-adjusted to accommodate urgent requests. This requires an individual who possess a high level of flexibility and adaptability. This position will have one direct report.

This position offers a hybrid work arrangement ideally working from the Toronto office location. Other office locations can be considered.

Accountabilities

  • Leads and drives a customer focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Manages end-to-end process (communications strategy, development, and delivery) for all communications spanning the portfolio of accountability including CBBPortal Sharepoint Site, Scorecards and all CBB Incentive programs
  • Support the calendaring of all planning steps including people strategy planning and business planning / alignment in collaboration with business partners
  • Manages and owns the Strategy Performance & Client teams intake process and associated reporting for senior leadership
  • Owns CBBPortal Sharepoint (replacement of Scotiabank Live) / governance and delegation of sub-sites
  • Manages the business case process and annual learning and delivery strategy, ensuring all deliverables are in line with the prioritization determined by CBB, Sales Practices and various business areas.
  • Manages end to end process for all CBB Incentive programs
  • Ensuring alignment of all communications with Global Communications and all-Bank plans and priorities.
  • Develops metrics in conjunction with Director, Sales Effectiveness to assess the effectiveness and sustainability of communication and incentive programs ensuring alignment with the Bank\'s strategy and overall business needs and requirements
  • Understand how the Bank\'s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Creates an environment in which their team pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank\'s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.
  • Builds a high-performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment and using a coaching mindset and behaviours; communicating vison/values/business strategy; and, managing succession and development planning for the team.
Education / Experience / Other Information

Education:
  • Post-secondary education ideally in Business, Finance: Degree with related experience in communication delivery is preferred
Skills/Experience:
  • Strong understanding of the Canadian Business Banking business lines including policies and processes, servicing models and products
  • Thorough knowledge of Canadian Banking strategy and business objectives
  • Sales experience an asset
  • Excellent project management skills with a high-level of accountability for the quality and timely completion of projects
  • Excellent project delivery skills, with proven accomplishments leading cross-functional projects
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with proven ability to influence stakeholders
  • Strong knowledge on a wide range of current market delivery segments and emerging technologies
  • Previous work experience/success in product development/management, business analysis or in a related field
  • Strong problem solver with ability to lead the team to push to solution and progress
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills with strong attention to detail
  • Curious and experimental mindset to drive innovation amidst uncertainty
  • Ability to work non-standard works hours as required to meet business needs
