Department Overview

Lead a specialized team of data professionals varying in size and complexity that are responsible for aiding to drive changes and improvement in business practices through advanced analytics.
Manage the overall Advanced Analytics team or function for a key business which may include Data Modellers and/or Data Scientist roles. May also oversee the development of statistical models, data mining and analytic solutions.

Customer Accountabilities:
  • Lead team of Data Scientists and Data Modelling professionals and provide day to day direction as needed
  • May also be accountable to lead team in developing powerful business insights from social marketing and industrial data using advanced machine learning techniques
  • Act as People Manager and is responsible for ongoing coaching and development, setting objectives, assessing performance
  • Work closely with business owners to identify opportunities and serve as an ambassador for data science
  • Lead and oversee the design and delivery of enterprise analytic solutions for customers
  • Work in a highly interactive, team-oriented environment with Big Data developers, and analytical experts
Shareholder Accountabilities:
  • May provide analytical thought leadership and stay current on developments in data mining and the application of data science
  • May oversee build of complex statistical models that learn from and scale to petabytes of data.
Employee/Team Accountabilities:
  • Responsible for management of the overall team(s) providing both leadership and guidance
  • Set targets and objectives for the team, and deliver results
  • Grow team expertise to align with enterprise demand and the Bank\'s direction; assess team skills and capabilities and continually look for ways to provide and enhance the value delivered
  • Foster an environment / culture that encourages productivity, innovation, process improvement, teamwork and a high level of professionalism
  • Co-ordinate necessary resources to ensure completion by deadlines
  • Provide coaching, development, succession, recruitment, resource management and overall team leadership for team members and provide regular input into team members\' assessment of performance and development plans
  • Prioritize and manage own workload in order to deliver quality results and meet timelines
  • Support a positive work environment that promotes service to the business, quality, innovation and teamwork and ensure timely communication of issues/ points of interest
  • Identify and recommend opportunities to enhance productivity, effectiveness and operational efficiency
  • Establish effective relationships across multiple business and technology partners, program and project managers
  • Participate in knowledge transfer within the team and business units
Breadth and Depth:
  • Oversee and lead a large and/or highly complex and diverse reporting function for an area of significant risk, complexity or scope
  • Strategic partner to leadership team on the management of the portfolio and financials, with deep industry, external / internal, enterprise knowledge, recognizing and anticipating emerging trends and; identifying operational efficiencies and opportunities with other business management / enterprise areas
  • Facilitate key strategic discussions and provide thought leadership to executive audience (output may include strategic roadmap and/or deliverables/ frameworks/ short to long term goals etc.)
  • Set operational team direction and collaborate with others to execute on common goals
  • Focus on longer-range planning for functional area (e.g. 12 months or greater)
  • Generally reports to business management executive
