What will you do?

• Provide ongoing support of mainframe technologies including responding to service requests, problem analysis, resolution, escalation and reporting as necessary.
• Identify and participate in improvement, system renewal, stability, and upgrade projects.
• Interface with developers, infrastructure teams, system designers, business system analysts, and testing specialists to deliver high quality solutions and maintain a stable environment.
• Lead, representing the operations support team, various review processes to gain a solid understanding of the application and provide input into the various deliverables from a support perspective.
• Provide coaching to other team members and peers on tools, techniques, and processes.
• Keep current with trends in emerging technologies and how they could apply to Sun Life
• Occasional weekend work in support implementations.
• Participation in on call rotation will be required.

What will you need to succeed?

• University degree in Computer Science or equivalent
• 5+ years Working knowledge of PL/I or COBOL development language, and JCL
• Experience with DevOps Environment and IDZ tools
• Experience with IBM z/OS mainframe environment and with IMS and DB2 databases
• Progressive IT experience with full development life cycle and systems integration experience

• Excellent problem analysis and troubleshooting skills
• Strong leadership, planning, organizational and consulting skills
• Solid business and technical acumen, with demonstrated agility in learning and ability to become comfortable with unfamiliar businesses areas or technologies.
• Ability to work in a dynamic environment with changing priorities
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Self-driven motivation to achieve desired outcome
• Able to liaise with various partners including delivery, Kyndryl/IBM

The nice to haves

• Experience in financial and insurance industries
• Exposure to Agile framework (Kanban, Scrum)
• Exposure to team collaboration tools like Confluence, JIRA, MS Teams

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance.
