Senior Long-Term Engineer
to join our growing McIlvenna Bay team. This is a full-time position based at the McIlvenna Bay site working 14/14 rotation.

Reporting to the Chief Mine Engineer, the
Senior Long-Term Engineer
is responsible for developing and maintaining life-of-mine plans and long-range forecasts to support safe, sustainable, and profitable operations. The Senior Long-Term Engineer role works closely with geology, metallurgy, and operations to ensure alignment across planning horizons and optimize resource use. The position provides technical leadership to the planning team and drives continuous improvement through strategic analysis and planning best practices.
Job Responsibilities:
Lead and promote a strong safety culture through compliance, inspections, and regular safety meetings.
Develop and communicate long-term mine plans and production schedules, identifying improvement opportunities.
Lead strategic planning, including annual budgets and life-of-mine (LOM) forecasts.
Conduct trade-off studies to support continuous improvement initiatives.
Analyze strategic scenarios to assess operational opportunities.
Align long-term plans with short- and mid-term objectives for seamless execution.
Collaborate with Mine Geology and Metallurgy to meet plant blending targets.
Work with Mine Geology to convert resources into reserves.
Mentor and supervise engineering staff to ensure safe, efficient operations.
Evaluate new technologies to enhance underground safety and productivity.
Actively promote safe production by implementing engineering best practices in mine design (production and reticulation).
Foster effective communication and collaboration with other mine site departments and personnel to optimize overall mine site operations.
Maintain a comprehensive stope reconciliation program and support accurate mine reconciliation.
Prepare production reports with key metrics, risks, and performance analysis.
Standardize and regularly review planning and production processes for consistency and efficiency.
Manage operational changes using formal change management protocols with proper documentation.
Job Qualifications and Skills:
Bachelor's degree in Mine Engineering or a related field.
7+ years underground hard rock mining experience; supervisory experience is an asset.
Registered P.Eng. in good standing within a Canadian province (e.g., APEGS, PEO, EGBC).
Strong grasp of mining operations, business drivers, and underground infrastructure systems.
Proficient in Deswik (Sched, UGDB, CAD, IS) and Microsoft 365 tools.
Skilled in problem-solving, analysis, and decision-making with high attention to detail.
Strong communicator with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally.
Adaptable in fast-paced, dynamic environments.
Deep understanding of underground safety regulations and commitment to safety culture.
Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
