As a Senior Licensing Officer, you will:

  • Work in a team based environment and be charged with leading licensing activities in the health service delivery area.
  • Carry a licensing officer caseload.
  • Participate in the planning and coordination of licensing services, practice standards, and goals and objectives.
  • Participate in performance evaluation and staff selection, facilitate staffing and scheduling activities, act as a resource, assess development needs/interests and provide orientation/education programs, and identify and carry out quality improvement initiatives.
Qualifications

Education & Experience
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in allied health discipline.
  • Five years recent related experience in a leadership role working in a community care facility licensing program or related field or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Valid BC Driver\xe2\x80\x99s License is required. Local area travel requires the use of a personal vehicle.
Knowledge & Abilities
  • Broad knowledge of provincial acts and regulations related to Community Care Facilities Licensing.
  • Ability to supervise, train and evaluate staff.
  • Ability to develop and support an effective Licensing team.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, decision-making and problem solving.
  • Thorough knowledge of the provision of quality care within community care facilities.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of quality assurance/quality improvement.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment in the inspection and assessment of community care facilities and programs.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively and work collaboratively.
  • Ability to teach and conduct presentations.
  • Knowledge of and the ability to implement problem-solving processes.
  • Ability to analyze technical reports and information.
  • Ability to secure facts through investigation and inspection.
  • Ability to gather evidence and present it clearly and effectively during court or other hearings.
  • Ability to interpret, explain and ensure compliance with applicable requirements and provisions of acts and regulations.
  • Ability to enforce regulatory provisions with tact and firmness.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to prepare and present comprehensive reports and recommendations on community care licensing issues.
  • Ability to develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with licensees, government agencies, special interest groups and the public.
  • Ability to work effectively as a member of a team.
  • Ability to work independently within established policies and program objectives.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work.
  • Ability to operate personal computer and applicable software.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.

The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes. Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check.

As per the current Public Health Orders (Long Term Care/Seniors Assisted Living Provincial Health Officer Order and the Health Sector Order), as of October 26, 2021, all employees working for Vancouver Coastal Health must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19. Proof of vaccination status will be required.
