As Senior Legal Counsel, you will support our current Head of Legal Operations in managing the Legal Operations department on an interim basis for The Adaptavist Group. This role will also deputise for the Head of Legal Operations from time to time, providing strategic and commercial legal guidance, overseeing corporate governance, and ensuring global compliance during this transitional period.


You will work closely with the CEO, COO, and other senior executives, as well as cross-functional teams including finance, HR, and product, to align legal strategy with the company's business objectives. Also, you'll oversee legal aspects of company operations, including governance of a complex global entity structure, risk management, employment law, intellectual property, and regulatory compliance.


Finally, you'll temporarily manage a legal team of two direct reports, supporting the company's growth and innovation while safeguarding its reputation and mitigating risks.

What you'll be doing




Strategy and Leadership:

Periodically deputising for the Head of Legal Operations, offering strategic vision, direction, and temporary oversight for all legal matters across the group. This also includes interim line management for a team of two. Acting as a key advisor to the CEO and executive leadership on legal, governance and risk issues. Supporting the development and implementation of the company's global legal strategy, ensuring alignment with business objectives. Building and managing a high-performing legal and compliance team over time.
Corporate Governance and Compliance:

Overseeing the corporate governance for The Adaptavist Group's global entity structure, ensuring compliance with local and international regulations. Managing the company's company secretarial responsibilities, including drafting and maintenance of board minutes, appointments and resignations, handling shareholder matters and the company's share option scheme. Ensuring regulatory filings and compliance are up-to-date for all global entities, working with outsourced providers and regional offices as needed. Monitoring and advising on changes to laws and regulations impacting the company's global operations.
Legal Advice and Risk Management:

Providing legal advice across departments including intellectual property, employment law and regulatory compliance. Managing legal risks, balancing the company's ability to be innovative with its exposure to liability. Handling crisis management and providing guidance on sensitive matters with HR on all aspects of employment law. Developing and maintaining legal policies and procedures to mitigate risk and promote consistency across the group company.
Commercial and Operational Support:

Providing ad hoc assistance with contracts, company leases, and preparation of legal documents or templates; Leading and supporting mergers and acquisitions if required, including due diligence, contract negotiation and post-acquisition integration. Collaborating with product and marketing teams to ensure compliance with data protection and intellectual property laws.
Regulatory and Compliance Oversight:

Working collaboratively to ensure global compliance with data protection regulations, including GDPR, CCPA and other applicable frameworks. Drafting policies and processes for managing data breaches and compliance in collaboration with the Office of the CIO and People Operations. Collaborating with HR and PEX to promote awareness and training for employees on legal and compliance matters, including data privacy, intellectual property and anti-bribery.
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR):

Providing leadership in developing and executing the company's corporate social responsibility initiatives with the AdaptaKind team, aligning them with legal and ethical standards.

Qualifications

What we're looking for



Qualified Solicitor with PQE across a range of areas, including employment, intellectual property, regulatory compliance and corporate Law. Strategic mindset with the ability to align legal strategies and business objectives. Strong interpersonal, communication and management skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across all levels. Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and projects effectively. Commercially aware and pragmatic approach to risk management. Ability to handle sensitive matters discreetly and sensitively. Confidence to negotiate legal contracts and documentation.
