Sobeys Learning & Development Centre of Excellence is looking for a senior learning professional to support key strategic transformations and business functions requiring advanced learning and performance solutions. The Senior Advisor for Learning Performance is a key leadership role that requires superior consulting, project and stakeholder management, and innovation skills partnered with deep expertise in learning. Business Function Learning Partner
Serve as the L&D CoE lead point of contact and learning partner for different Sobeys Business Functions:
  • Build and maintain strong, long-lasting client relationships with leaders, subject matter experts and with L&D counterparts in the Business Function
  • Understand the nature of the business in order to provide learning solutions that meet their unique requirements and priorities
  • Partner with Business Function teams to develop learning strategies, curriculums and solutions and associated budgets that build internal capability
  • Provide advisory services to assist with challenging client needs
  • Ensure timely and quality delivery of L&D solutions and act as a point of escalation to address issues and challenges
  • Work with the Business Function team to develop and track key metrics and provide insights that can be used for decision making
  • Manage communications with the Business Function team to ensure that they are appropriately informed and consulted on L&D matters that impact them


L&D Project Lead
Lead the L&D Workstream on strategic projects that may impact multiple business functions:
  • Take accountability for the end to end planning, management and oversight of the learning workstream of the project – from the initial needs assessment to delivery and implementation of learning asset, to evaluation and sustainment
  • Define the learning solution and mobilize the necessary resources to deliver the solution
  • Ensure learning solutions are aligned with the desired Sobeys culture, practices and standards and learning experience
  • Provide direction, support and oversight to the learning team resources assigned to the project
  • Secure learning vendors and manage the relationship with and performance of external resources to provide quality and timely work
  • Partner with the Change Management Lead, Communications Lead and Project Manager to create a cohesive approach to the learning work stream and address any issues or challenges


Learning Program and Solutions Lead
Responsible for the end-to-end design, development, deployment (indirectly or directly), change management, and continuous improvement of one or more L&D programs
  • Develop new or modify existing L&D programs including leading all necessary assessment, design, development, implementation, evaluation and reporting activities
  • Ensure programs are aligned with the desired culture and leadership model, reflect a culture of inclusion, elevate the learning experience and meet the Sobeys L&D practices and standards
  • Lead the communications/change management of new and changing L&D programs to ensure buy-in and adoption
  • Own contracts with learning vendors and manage performance and budget for external resources
  • Ensure ongoing measurement and evaluation of L&D programs to ensure effectiveness and efficiency

Job Requirements


  • Undergraduate degree or college diploma required, with a preference for adult education, instructional design, information architecture or education
  • 8+ years direct experience in designing, developing and implementing learning programs across a number of areas
  • 3 years experience in a consulting, learning partner, or account management role
  • Experience managing/leading teams or project teams
  • CHRP, CTDP or equivalent preferred
  • Travel 10 - 30%
