Job Description


As the Senior Laboratory Technician in the AAC Genomics Facility, you will be an integral part of our technical team, contributing to a wide range of projects and studies focused on genomics research. Your exceptional laboratory skills, attention to detail, and expertise in genomics techniques will be vital in ensuring the success of our experiments and the production of high-quality data. Responsibilities:

  • Perform a variety of advanced genomics experiments including, Sanger Sequencing, library preparation, next-generation sequencing (NGS), qPCR, and ddPCR
  • Execute quality control measures to ensure the accuracy and reliability of experimental results, troubleshoot technical issues, and implement corrective actions as necessary.
  • Maintain and operate laboratory equipment, including sequencers, automated liquid and labware handlers, PCR machines, and other specialized instrumentation, adhering to established protocols and safety guidelines.
  • Collaborate with researchers and scientists to design, plan, and execute genomics experiments that meet project objectives and timelines.
  • Analyze and interpret genomics data, generating detailed reports and summaries for presentation to clients.
  • Stay abreast of the latest advancements in genomics research and emerging technologies, recommending and implementing innovative approaches to enhance laboratory efficiency and data quality.
Qualifications:
  • Undergraduate degree in Molecular Biology, Genetics, Biotechnology, or related fields (Master\'s Preferred)
  • Proven experience (1+ years) working in a genomics laboratory setting, with a strong emphasis on NGS techniques and library preparation for Illumina platforms.
  • Solid understanding of genomics principles and techniques, such as DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, qPCR, and sequencing data analysis.
  • Proficiency in using laboratory equipment and software associated with genomics research, including automated systems.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, ensuring precise and accurate data collection and analysis.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, enabling effective interaction with multidisciplinary teams and external collaborators.
