Responsibilities
Architect, design, and implement server-side applications using Java 7+, the Spring Framework, and Enterprise JavaBeans (EJB)
Build and maintain RESTful APIs and microservices to support integration with front-end applications and third-party systems
Develop and manage JSPs and EJB components, focusing on efficient business logic handling and data persistence within the Java EE framework
Optimize database operations on DB2 RDBMS, including creating and tuning complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and data models
Collaborate with product management, QA, DevOps, and front-end engineers to gather requirements and deliver business-aligned solutions
Write high-quality unit and integration tests using JUnit and Mockito to ensure code reliability and comprehensive test coverage
Monitor and troubleshoot backend systems, using tools like Splunk for log analysis and SonarQube to maintain code quality and reliability
Support and enhance CI/CD pipelines with Jenkins and containerization platforms like Docker to enable smooth deployment processes
Drive and contribute to code reviews, enforcing coding standards, best practices, and scalability-focused design patterns
Actively participate in Scrum ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, backlog refinement, and retrospectives
Mentor and coach junior and mid-level engineers to foster technical growth and collaboration in the team
Requirements
Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field (Master's degree preferred)
6+ years of professional backend software development experience with demonstrated expertise in: Java 7+, Spring Framework (including Spring Boot), Enterprise JavaBeans (EJB), JSPs
Strong experience designing and implementing enterprise-grade microservices using RESTful APIs, with a focus on scalability and security
Proficiency in DB2 database management, including schema creation, complex SQL queries, and performance optimization
Hands-on experience working in enterprise environments, ideally with WebLogic application servers
Expertise in unit testing and integration testing using JUnit and Mockito
Advanced knowledge of tools like SonarQube for static code analysis and enforcing quality standards
Proven experience with Splunk for monitoring, troubleshooting, and log analytics
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, leveraging tools like Jenkins, and containerization using Docker
Nice to have
Familiarity with front-end technologies, including React, Redux, and TypeScript, with the ability to contribute across the full stack if necessary
Knowledge of cloud platforms like Azure
Prior experience in the Financial Services or Wealth Management industry is a significant plus
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on building secure, scalable, and maintainable systems
Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in an Agile Scrum team environment
