As a Senior IT Support Specialist, you will:

  • Be a key member of our onboarding and user support team
  • Purchase and support systems, software and hardware inventories
  • Be responsible for delivery of the 1st and 2nd level end-user support for incidents, requests and problems

  • Deployment and recovery of computers, other peripherals
  • Handling onboarding/offboarding requests for our end user base while maintaining inventory/financial tracking of equipment
  • Provide 1st and 2nd level Incident / Request management support to IT end-users, with a particular emphasis and focus on first call / level resolution
  • Accountable and responsible for the monitoring and alerting to key service impacting situations; includes appropriate IT and business escalation management
  • Accountable to Service and Operational Level agreements between the business and IT
  • Continuous improvement, automation and innovation in the management and delivery of Service Desk process and operations, inclusive of building and documenting improvements
  • Software and Hardware Inventory Management
  • Manage shipping of equipment
  • Perform other duties as required
Required Skills & Experience
  • Degree or diploma in a Computer Sciences program and/or related industry experience
  • Experience with Microsoft 365 (Exchange Online, Sharepoint, Onedrive, Teams), Azure AD (Entra ID), Active Directory
  • Knowledge of ITIL IT service management processes, an ideally specific experience working within Incident, Problem, Change, SLM, and Service Desk competencies
  • Experience with call logging and metrics gathering processes and technologies
  • Working knowledge of Windows desktop platforms including Windows 10
  • Working knowledge of desktop / laptop hardware technologies
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft networking technologies
  • Experience supporting users remotely
  • Experience working with ticketing systems, such as Jira Service Desk, an asset
  • Ability to make decisions independently using logical assumptions and factual information
  • Ability to develop highly effective relationships with customers, peers, and operational staff characterized by mutual trust and respect
Desired Skills:
  • Experience with Endpoint Manager / Intune (autopilot an asset)
  • Scripting using PowerShell, Batch, Python, Bash, etc.
  • Experience with GitHub
  • Physically assemble a computer from components
  • Enjoy working in an office in Uptown Waterloo
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication
  • Strong organization and technical skills
  • Excellent analytical / problem solving skills
  • Ingrained sense of accountability and ownership
