Equity Trading Systems Development at TD Securities

The TDS Equity Trading Systems team is responsible for the design, development and maintenance of the TDS Canadian Equities algorithmic trading platform. This platform is composed of in-house and vendor technologies providing trading and routing algos, market-connectivity, market-data processing and distribution, securities pricing, and risk management. We work closely with the front-office teams to expand their businesses by enabling and implementing new trading strategies and additional market access. The team is currently involved in large initiatives working to modernize and increase the capacity of our infrastructure and is expanding to allow us to leverage these improvements by building out our next generation of trading technology.

TD Engineering covers a broad range of exercises and initiatives including requirements gathering, design specification, industry analysis, vendor engagement and analysis, software development, project management, financial management, test plans and execution, and operational standards implementation. About This Role We are looking for someone armed with a strong tool-kit to develop and maintain technical solutions that adhere to engineering and architectural design principles while meeting business requirements. You\xe2\x80\x99ll also provide technical expertise with a focus on efficiency, reliability, scalability, and security. This mandate includes planning, evaluating, recommending, designing, operationalizing, and supporting solutions in compliance with enterprise and industry standards. • 
  Maintain and enhance components of the existing real-time trading and order routing system
• Participate in the design and implementation of a replacement order routing and management system using modern messaging technologies
• Provide third level support for the trading systems
• Properly document and test changes and follow the mandated project and development processes
• Work with business representatives to clarify and finalize business requirements and provide input to the overall technical direction of the application
• Work to improve the supportability and maintainability of the applications

• Apply your deep technology expertise to ensure all TD areas that touch various technologies have the necessary tools, processes and documentation to operate effectively.
• Execute on TD Technology\'s engineering strategy as it relates to the introduction of tools and the automation of build, test, release and configure across application, platform and infrastructure.
• Partner with Operations to automatically integrate with appropriate tools and processes as part of automated/self-serve application, platform or Infrastructure releases.
• Apply an in-depth understanding of relevant business needs and work with technology partners to identify and leverage synergies across the various areas.
• Challenge yourself as an expert, lead innovator and change agent for the programs and services under management.
• Draw on best practices and your knowledge of internal and external business issues to improve products or services.
• Monitor and control costs associated with the work you do.
• Be prepared to collaborate with governance and control groups, (e.g. regulatory and operational risk, compliance and audit), provide your subject matter expertise and consult on risk issues related to Engineering technology and tools.
• Develop and/or contribute to negotiations of third-party contracts/agreements.
• Work with your team, business and tech partners, vendor platform provides, engineering firms etc. to keep abreast of trends, products, frameworks, applications.
• Maintain knowledge and understanding of external development, engineering, emerging solutions, market conditions and their impact.

Job Requirements
What can you bring to TD? Share your credentials, but your relevant experience and knowledge can be just as likely to get our attention. It helps if you have:

• University or Post-Graduate Degree.
• 5 years+ experience in server-side C++ development on Linux
• Experience developing real-time, multi-threaded, distributed applications
• Experience using Solace or similar messaging infrastructure for creating distributed applications \xe2\x80\x93 knowledge of TibcoRV would also be an asset
• Excellent troubleshooting skills with an ability to react quickly and manage priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Strong Unix scripting and SQL skills
• Good understanding of real-time trading systems and experience with the FIX protocol
• Good understanding of and experience with market-data processing \xe2\x80\x93 direct experience with Exegy feed handlers, using MAMA APIs for market-data processing, and exchange-native data feeds would also be an asset
• Strong communications skills, both verbal and written
• Experience with C#/.Net real-time GUI/web development would be an asset
