We are looking for a Senior Internal Auditor to help grow our business and contribute to our future.
The Internal Auditor will provide independent, objective assurance by conducting individual internal audit programs for various areas within the organization according to the annual internal audit plan with a heightened focus on areas involving financial reporting, financial controls, and financial statement-related risks. Reporting to the Senior Internal Audit Manager, other highlights include:Execute comprehensive preliminary assessments, including detailed walkthroughs, stakeholder interviews, evaluation of financial processes and controls, analysis of financial and operational data, and targeted research to fully understand the business environment and identify key financial and operational risks. Design and execute audit programs aligned with recognized financial audit methodologies, performing control testing, substantive procedures, and data validation with minimal supervision. Prepare clear audit reports summarizing findings, root causes, and practical, risk-based recommendations for review by the Senior Internal Audit Manager. Partner with the Senior Internal Audit Manager and senior finance leadership to develop actionable, prioritized management action plans in response to audit recommendations. Draft final reports, including agreed action plans, for review and distribution to management and the Board's Audit Committee. Monitor and report on management's progress in implementing audit recommendations and assess the effectiveness of remediation activities. Maintain current knowledge of internal audit standards, financial audit techniques, IFRS/GAAP, and emerging risks, recommending improvements to audit methodologies. Analyze audit results across projects to identify systemic issues and emerging risks and recommend actions to address broader organizational trends. Assess and enhance internal audit practices, tools, and documentation to improve efficiency and effectiveness. Support investigations into potential fraud, financial irregularities, or other matters requiring independent review. Support enterprise risk management activities, including assessing financial and operational risk exposures and related action plans. Lead or contribute to special projects or reviews as assigned by the Senior Internal Audit Manager.

What you'll need:Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or related field along with 3-6 years experience in internal or external audit, with a focus on accounting and financial statement processes. Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) or Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) designation is required. Other relevant designations or certifications would be considered an asset. Knowledge of the following: + Financial analysis including IFRS Accounting Standards as issued by the International Accounting Standards Board ("IASB"), Canadian auditing standards, and National Instrument (NI) 52-109.
+ Global Internal Audit Standards outlined by the IIA in the 2024 update to the International Professional Practices Framework (IPPF) and code of conduct.
+ CPA Canada, the AICPA's System and Organization Controls (SOC)
+ International Organization for Standardization (ISO)
+ Information Systems Audit Control Association
+ C-SOX
+ COSO 2013
+ CSA guidelines
Solid understanding of auditing principles, internal controls, and risk assessment. Understanding of IT information systems, including risk assessment, control evaluation, and recommendations. Ability to gather, analyze, and evaluate audit evidence and prepare clear, concise audit reports. Skill in assessing a wide range of subject matter within an audit context. Ability to design and conduct surveys and research.
