SUMMARY
The Senior Interior Designer is highly motivated, has a strong sense of design, and can lead and collaborate effectively with all interior design staff while mentoring junior to intermediate interior designers and technologists. They are a team player with solid communication, organization, and problem-solving skills. The individual will have over ten years of experience working in an architectural or interior office, delivering projects from concept through design development and construction drawings. They will have graduated from a recognized University program and registered or working towards registration with a governing association.
This person will work within a collaborative design team throughout all phases of project development to produce a high-quality product. They will demonstrate practical knowledge of design, trends, construction methodology, materials application, and manufacturer-supplier appropriateness. They will also possess knowledge of furniture, fixture, and equipment (FF&E), architectural/interior finishes, lighting, art signage, color, and materials to carry out the design intent of the projects they are involved with.
This person will assist in proposals, prepare work planning, and scheduling staff in partnership with the ID Team Lead and Operations Lead, to complete the work, including tracking time and fee budget. They will direct and coordinate the review of drawing progress regularly and ensure that documentation for all phases conforms to METAFOR quality assurance, quality control, and best practice standards.
They will be responsible for successfully integrating the interior design team's deliverables and ensuring design intent is maintained throughout all phases of the project. This individual can successfully lead projects from concept and schematic design, through design development and construction documents, including initial project scoping, work planning, and budget management through to contract administration. They will support the Interior Design Team Lead in achieving design and technical excellence while working within a collaborative framework of the METAFOR practice.
POSITION OVERVIEW
Minimum tenyears of experience working in an architectural or interior designfirm,delivering projects from concept through design development and construction drawings forvariousbuilding types.
Graduated from a recognized University program and registered (or working towards) with the AAA, NCIDQ,DIDor other governing associations for Interior Design.
Work with the project design team throughout all phases of projectmanagementto produce a high-quality product.
Assistin proposals, prepare work planning and scheduling of production staff to complete the work, including tracking time and fee budget.Responsible for interior design assignments and working with the project team toassistincompleting various project phases.
Contribute to theorganization and updating of the Interiors Sample Library.
Minimal traveling for project worktoour Edmonton Office.
Has an expert understanding of building codes, interior components,and construction processes.
Able to make independent decisions in the best interest of the project and be able to supervise others.

Contributing todetailed preparation of design and construction documents and solutions to general interior design problems. Drawing Platforms: AutoCAD/Revit experienceisrequired.
Collaborate on concept and schematic design and design development.
Excellent time management and teamwork skills.
Create and deliver high-quality presentation materials, including presentation boards, material boards, digital models, elevations, and 3D renderings. This role requires hands-on involvement in developing these assets to effectively communicate design concepts to clients and project teams.
Demonstrate strong space planning skills and take ownership of programming tasks, including gathering and analyzing client requirements, developing adjacency diagrams, and translating functional needs into effective design solutions.
