Position
The
Senior
Instrumentation & Controls Specialist
is integral to Woodfibre LNG's project management team. You will oversee portions of the engineering, construction and commissioning project, ensure compliance with the project's legal and contractual environmental requirements, and contribute to Woodfibre LNG's enduring dedication to corporate social responsibility. The successful candidate reports directly to the Engineering Manager and will be essential in supporting the company's engineering and senior management team.
Key Responsibilities

The successful applicant will:
Support the Engineering Manager and interface with other engineering disciplines and contractors to deliver the project on time and within budget.
Act as the technical authority for instrumentation and control systems throughout engineering, construction, commissioning, and start-up phases of the LNG facility.
Review and approve engineered deliverables including Instrument Index, Shutdown Keys, Datasheets, Control Narratives, and P&IDs to ensure compliance with WLNG Basis of Design and Canadian regulatory standards.
Oversee EPC contractor performance for instrumentation and control scope, including integration of ICSS, SIS, and Fire & Gas systems.
Coordinate and supervise Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs), Site Acceptance Tests (SATs), and commissioning activities for instrumentation and control systems.
Provide technical support during installation, calibration, configuration, and troubleshooting of instrumentation devices and control systems.
Interface with BC Hydro and EPC contractor on technical aspects of the 138 kV transmission system extension and related control integration.
Support commissioning and turnover documentation, including loop checks, system completions, and final handover packages.
Establish strong working relationships with WLNG stakeholders, EPC contractor, vendors, and service providers to resolve technical issues and maintain project schedule.
Communicate critical project information and progress to internal and external stakeholders, ensuring transparency and compliance with contractual obligations.
Establish working relationships with stakeholders within the Company, equipment manufacturers, other vendors, and service providers.
Monitor contractor performance for compliance with contract requirements.
Communicate critical project information and status to internal and external stakeholders.
Requirements
Required Experience
:
Diploma in Instrumentation Engineering Technology or equivalent
A licensed Red Seal Journeyman Instrumentation and Controls Technician Certificate is desirable
10 to 15 years of experience in major capital projects in the Oil & Gas industry.
Motivated self-starter with the ability to perform effectively under minimal supervision.
Ability to solve technical problems as they arise and decide how a problem's solution will impact the immediate problem and the associated System(s).
Regularly shift between planned and unplanned activities while remaining effective despite the resulting disruptive effects.
Additional Requirements
:
Willingness to relocate to an agreed location for a given duration, if required, to support engineering, fabrication, construction, and commissioning.
Willingness to see the project through to completion and handover to Operations.
Experience working with large multi-disciplinary teams, contractors in a multicultural environmental is an asset.
Communication/interpersonal skills - to be able to interact with front line workers through to management and all hierarchical levels.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work well under pressure and handle multiple tasks and changing priorities within tight time frames.
Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
Expertise with a variety of computer programs (e.g., MS Office)

A valid driver's license and passport.
Able to legally work in Canada
The position is based in Squamish, BC (Project Site), with an initial stay period at the Vancouver Office, followed by travel to the Module Fabrication Yards in China and a visits to Houston project office as required.
