Cambrian College's Teaching and Learning Innovation Hub has an immediate requirement for a Senior Instructional Designer.

Duties and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Manager, Teaching & Learning Innovation Hub, the Senior Instructional Designerwill work with faculty to design and develop technology-based instructional materials and courses that support a flexible, customizable, and personalized learning experience for students. The incumbent will also be responsible for:
Providing guidance, coordination, and direction to some members of the Instructional Design Team including scheduling of work assignments and projects.
Collaborating with subject matter experts, faculty, educational developer, graphic designer, multimedia specialist, and eLearning team to design courses that are active and engaging
Applies expertise in pedagogy and consults with faculty on online teaching strategies, including instructional materials, learning activities, and assessment strategies
Providing guidance and assists subject matter experts with preparing course material for online, hybrid, hyflex, and asynchronous deliveries
Designing instructional content based on information provided by the subject matter expert and the capabilities of Cambrian's LMS (Moodle)
Applies instructional design principles that comply with AODA requirements
Acts as an intake coordinator for instructional design-related requests for service and coordinates large scale instructional design projects
Building course content and interactive learning activities, ensuring all materials meet pedagogical and accessibility standards, including compliance with AODA and WCAG guidelines
Writes audio and video scripts for instructional multimedia
Ensures courses meet quality standards as outlined in the Quality Criteria for Digital/Online Learning
Maintains up-to-date knowledge of learning theory, educational technology, and best practices in online course design and development
Coordinates necessary meetings with the subject matter experts
Providing updates on project progress and proactively identifies risks for potential delays by using recognized project management strategies and techniques
Develops and facilitates learning opportunities for faculty related to teaching and learning, independently or in conjunction with internal partners
Presents at external events and/or conferences
Qualifications
------------------
A minimum of a three-year diploma plus professional certification, or equivalent. (A copy of educational documents must be submitted with application education completed outside of Canada, applicants are required to submit a WES or ICAS with their application). Must have completed additional training--such as a certificate or course--in Educational Technology, Instructional Design, Technology-Enhanced Learning, Accessibility, or a related area, with a strong focus on technology-enabled learning.
Minimum of three years of experience working with learning management systems and web-based authoring tools related to education and training.
Demonstrated experience managing instructional design projects and coordinating tasks across teams using recognized project management tools and strategies.
Experience applying Ontario AODA requirements to the creation of accessible educational materials.
Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
Highly organized self-starter with effective time-management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Commitment to working within a team environment.
