About Us

We offer Architectural work from a unique angle, leading the Province\xe2\x80\x99s large infrastructure projects from the Owner\xe2\x80\x99s perspective. Our Building Infrastructure Design Group is a collective of architectural and engineering professionals, working everyday to lead, guide and build our projects from early notes and sketches through all the phases of design and construction. We use both a big picture (systems) lens and a detailed technical/code lens to help guide projects from big idea to completion of the project goals. The types of projects that we work on include large additions and replacement facilities for hospitals and schools, art galleries, court houses, offices, and other buildings that support the various Nova Scotia government departments.

From our offices, located in the heart of historic downtown Halifax, we provide expertise throughout the design, tendering, construction, and inspection phases of major building projects. About Our Opportunity

We are seeking a Senior Architect to add their architectural, technical and design expertise to our team. The position reports to the Building Infrastructure Manager while managing building projects through all phases. The work begins with initial programming and scoping and moves through schematic design, design development, tender construction documents, construction administration, project completion, occupancy and warranty phases. Budgets and schedules must be managed. Quality, sustainability and durability must be assured. Codes, standards and procedures must be understood and upheld. This work is collaborative, and our efforts and successes are shared.

Primary Accountabilities

As a Senior Infrastructure Architect, you will act as the Architectural Design Team Lead for various public building projects. You will manage and coordinate external consultant teams as well as various stakeholders including government and community team members throughout the design and construction process.

You will provide direction and oversight throughout the development of large infrastructure buildings projects including the management of contracts for consultants and contractors, and management of the design and construction process.

Qualifications and Experience

Your Experience and Education will include the following:

  • You must have a university degree in Architecture, be a licensed Professional Architect with the Nova Scotia Association of Architects (NSAA) or be eligible to be licensed through an association that has a reciprocity agreement with the NSAA.
  • You must have a minimum of eight (8) years of Architectural buildings experience.
  • You must have experience with large Infrastructure Projects, for example: Schools, Hospitals, Offices, Justice Department projects or Museums.
  • You must have experience with the Design Bid Build delivery process. Experience with Design Build and Construction Management is considered a strong asset.
  • You must have experience with building specifications. Experience with owner/consultant and owner/contractor contracts would be considered a strong asset.
  • You must have some experience with budgeting and financial planning for building projects, Canadian building codes and commonly used design standards.
Your Work Experience and Skills will include the following:
  • You demonstrate sound judgement and interpersonal skills.
  • You are a self-starter with strong initiative and leadership abilities.
  • You can manage multiple projects at a time in a fast-paced environment and utilize your project management skills to achieve goals and meet strict deadlines.
  • You can communicate well through written and verbal formats with clients, consultants, contractors, government departments and agencies.
  • Computer skills are required, including proficiency in MS Word, Outlook, Excel and Teams.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit, Zoom, MS Project, SAP, and database management software would be considered assets.

Working Conditions

This role is primarily based in a comfortable office environment, and you may be working at your computer for extended periods of time. You may be required to travel within the province to visit sites or regional offices.

Salary Range: $3,215.50 - $3,781.51 Bi-Weekly
