About the position



As a contracted consultant at HIG, your role is part of a dynamic and responsive team working in a highly professional, collaborative, action-oriented, and responsive environment. As a Senior Improvement and Innovation Consultant at HIG, you will play a leadership role within a dynamic and responsive team working in a highly professional, collaborative, and action-oriented environment. You will be entrusted with advancing HIG's trusted and unique programs and services, shaping strategy, and delivering impact for clients across health and social systems.

In this role, you will act as a trusted advisor to health and system leaders, designing and implementing improvement strategies, building organizational and clinical capacity, and ensuring initiatives deliver measurable outcomes. You will coach and mentor senior leaders, individuals and teams, foster stakeholder collaboration, and participate and lead the development of innovative tools, resources, and learning curricula. Your leadership will directly contribute to advancing health and social care transformation and integrated care in Canada and Internationally.

Quality Improvement deliverables



Lead projects as a valued HIG advisor Lead and facilitate high-impact educational sessions, learning collaboratives, and improvement calls. Provide senior-level consultation and coaching to organizational leaders, practice facilitators, physician champions, and program leaders. Guide clinical and organizational teams through structured organizational assessments, improvement approaches to achieve better patient care, improved provider experience, and higher-quality outcomes. Lead site assessments, synthesizing findings into actionable strategies and facilitating consensus among diverse stakeholders. Advise and guide practice teams on the effective adoption and optimization of digital health tools and electronic medical records. Lead Strategic committees Support HIG organizational development and new business acquistion Other relevant duties as assigned

Program planning deliverables



Design, develop, and oversee the implementation of curricula, tools, resources, and clinical guides using behavioural and implementation science methodologies. Lead the development of Knowledge Translation and Exchange strategies to support scale and spread of innovation. Direct evidence-based reviews and ensure integration of emerging best practices into HIG approaches. Contribute to evaluation and measurement strategies and oversee their implementation to track impact across programs and initiatives. Prepare and present evidence-based materials, ensuring outputs meet the needs of senior leaders and front-line teams alike. Identify, recommend and integrate emerging best practices in improvement into HIG approaches. Direct evidence-based reviews including search questions to meet specific content or learning objectives. Other relevant duties as assigned.

Strategic and Organizational Leadership



Act as a senior advisor and primary point of contact for clients, cultivating strong and enduring relationships. Mentor and support the professional growth of colleagues and junior consultants. Represent HIG in high-level stakeholder engagements, demonstrating thought leadership in healthcare improvement and innovation. Champion a culture of excellence, continuous learning, and adaptability within HIG and with clients.

Experience



Minimum 8 years' experience in health and social care transformation, with at least 5 years in a senior or leadership capacity. Proven track record leading health and social care transformation, quality improvement and change management initiatives in primary healthcare or related sectors. Experience with different physician and team based care funding models Understanding of key technological enablers for system transformation Experience in capacity building for interdisciplinary teams, including facilitation, training, and role coordination. Expertise in program design, knowledge translation, and resource development for diverse healthcare settings. Demonstrated ability to engage, influence, and lead diverse stakeholder groups at all levels of the system. Knowledge in network and implementation science

Skills and Abilities:



Strategic thinking Exceptional facilitation and consensus-building skills across virtual and in-person settings. Advanced project management and organizational capabilities, with the ability to lead complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives. Deep understanding of the Canadian health and social care system, especially primary care transformation and integrated care. Strong communication skills, with proven ability to prepare and deliver high-quality written and verbal outputs tailored to diverse audiences. High aptitude with Google Suite, and video conferencing platforms (Zoom, Teams, etc.). Bilingualism (English/French) considered a strong asset.

Education and Certifications:



Master's degree in health, education, business, or a related field (or equivalent senior-level experience). Advanced training or certifications in quality improvement, change management, adult education, Lean, Six Sigma, or related methodologies strongly valued.

Contracting Conditions



Hours per week: 20-35 hours Compensation based on skills and experience Type: Consultant/contractor Location: Based in Canada, virtual position Schedule: Monday to Friday with occasional weekend work After hours work Must have access to a personal computer (office equipment not provided) and reliable access to internet infrastructure Travel may be required
