AtkinsR\xc3\xa9alis Mining & Metallurgical (M&M) team in Canada is made up of more than 400 employees who work on large-scale projects to support mining sustainability, pit-to-port opportunities, metallurgical plant engineering, or mine closure and capabilities in the study, design, and construction of mining projects across a wide range of mining and processing methods and commodities. We are seeking a Senior Hydrometallurgical Engineer to join our Global Mineral and Metals Process team and to be a catalyst in supporting the development of value chains for the green and digital economy. As a Senior Hydrometallurgical Engineer, you will assume a pivotal leadership role with SNC-Lavalin in advancing hydrometallurgical processes crucial for the sustainable extraction and refinement of societies\xe2\x80\x99 critical minerals. We are looking for a top performer to add to our talented M&M group and to be a part of the sustainable movement. The new team member will provide tailored process solutions across all phases of project development and operational support with opportunities to advance towards their career aspirations.

This opportunity will be based in Vancouver, BC, or Toronto, ON. and offers work-life flexibility with global exposure with AtkinsR\xc3\xa9alis teams and projects.

There is potential for work at client sites and project responsibilities will be added as needed. In some cases, the opportunity may be available to relocate to other Canadian or international destinations for extended periods of time.

Your role within the team:

  • Adheres to, and supports company HSE, Quality Management System, Ethics and Integrity policies and procedures while being a leader through collaboration and innovation.
  • Integrated role in advancing hydrometallurgical studies through to construction and commissioning.
  • Lead the development of flowsheets, piping and instrumentation diagrams, mass and energy balances, process design criteria, technology package trade-offs and selections, and optimization of process designs using the latest technology in industry.
  • Engage with clients to understand project requirements and participate in the preparation of proposals and other business development initiatives.
  • Identify, scope, and manage process test work programs at external laboratories or client-based site labs.
  • Strong multitasking abilities to manage the multiple process activities at a time, across all phases of a project lifecycle.
  • Effectively communicate project development through preparation of technical reports.

The ideal candidate:
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in Materials Science or Metallurgical Engineering, Chemical Engineering degrees will also be considered if there is work experience in hydrometallurgy.
  • 10+ years relevant experience in the mining and metals industry where successful leadership abilities have been demonstrated on project execution with the management of deliverables, budgets, and schedules.
  • Experience in developing flowsheets together with heat and mass balances using software such as METSIM.
  • Design, commissioning and/or operational experience of unit operations within hydrometallurgy.
  • Eligible for professional engineer (P. Eng.) designation in any Canadian province.
