Senior HVAC Design Engineer



We are looking for an experienced Engineer to lead the design, development, and improvement of large commercial HVAC products. This role includes overseeing product development projects, supporting manufacturing and existing products, and collaborating closely with customers, suppliers, and cross-functional teams.



The ideal candidate has strong hands-on and analytical skills, experience with HVAC system design, and knowledge of thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid mechanics, industry standards, and manufacturing processes. You will also mentor junior team members and help drive engineering standardization and technical excellence across the organization.



The successful candidate's responsibilities will include:



Lead NPD programs, sustaining and cost reduction initiatives as well as managing projects throughout the complete product development cycle. Manage maintenance and updates for purchased part engineering drawings, standards and specifications. Support manufacturing, sales & marketing, quality and supply chain functions Interface with vendors, customers and field personnel. Lead design, optimization and qualification of HVAC products employing advanced analytical methods and experimental techniques. Generate technical specifications, summary reports and standard work instructions. System and component design, develop complete HVAC products based on design requirements, review, verification and validation. Responsible for all aspects of mechanical design requirements of AHU, RTU and ERV. Analysis and evaluating engineering designs, review drawings, and preparing Bill of Material. Ensuring quality and timeliness design release. Coordinate with production and supply chain teams for necessary product changes. Training and technical mentoring of the engineering team. Work with CAD design team for 3D Modelling.

The ideal candidate for this position will have:



B.Sc. in Engineering (Mechanical) Registration as a professional engineer with EGM, or eligible to obtain registration A minimum of 10 years of relevant design experience in commercial HVAC/refrigeration and mechanical systems, with knowledge of air handling and energy recovery equipment considered an asset Experience with HVAC & refrigeration system design, fan selections and applications, and gas combustion systems Understanding of electrical and controls related to heavy-duty mechanical or HVAC equipment Knowledge of Acoustics, Psychrometrics & Thermodynamics Experience with FMEA tools and processes Strong interpersonal, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills Able to communicate and present effectively to executive team and customers Proficiency in 3D CAD software (ideally SolidWorks) and MS Office applications Experience with PDM, PLM, ECNs, bills of materials and MRP/ERP systems Expert knowledge of product development processes and design for manufacturability concepts Able to demonstrate prior experience in scaling up products for production is considered an asset A team player and problem solver who leads by example and is willing to roll up their sleeves
