What You'll Do



We're looking for an experienced and hands-on

HR Generalist

to join Canada Welding Supply (CWS) as the sole member of our HR team. In this role, you'll have the unique opportunity to build and shape our HR function while directly supporting our growing business.

From leading recruitment and onboarding, to driving employee engagement, overseeing payroll, and ensuring compliance with health and safety standards, you'll touch every corner of the employee experience. This role is both strategic and practical--you'll partner with leadership to design programs that elevate our culture while also rolling up your sleeves to make sure day-to-day processes run smoothly.

Recruitment & Onboarding



Lead full-cycle recruitment and onboarding to attract top talent. Partner with the leadership team to refine organizational structure and support business growth. Design creative, proactive recruitment initiatives that showcase our brand and culture.

Employee Relations & Engagement



Act as a trusted advisor for employees and management on all HR matters. Address employee concerns with professionalism and empathy, conducting investigations when needed. Launch initiatives that foster engagement and a positive, people-first culture.

Performance Management



Develop and administer performance management programs that drive growth and accountability. Support managers with coaching, reviews, and disciplinary actions.

Health & Safety



Lead quarterly Joint Health & Safety Committee meetings and monthly workplace inspections. Manage WSIB claims, incident reports, leaves, and return-to-work processes.

Learning & Development



Identify training needs and coordinate programs to help employees learn and grow.

HRIS & Reporting



Maintain and improve our HRIS system. Analyze people data and share insights with leadership to inform decisions.

Payroll & Compensation



Administer bi-weekly payroll with accuracy and timeliness. Manage vacation, overtime, and time-off tracking. Ensure compliance with payroll legislation and reporting requirements. Partner with finance to streamline payroll processes and support year-end activities (T4s, ROEs, etc.).

Process Improvement



Create and improve HR policies, programs, and practices that scale with our growth. Bring fresh ideas to elevate the employee experience.

What We're Looking For



7+ years of progressive HR experience (retail, industrial, or manufacturing sector an asset). Strong knowledge of employment law and payroll compliance in Ontario. Proven ability to collaborate, influence, and build strong relationships. Strong business acumen with a belief that HR drives success. Creativity in designing HR programs--and bonus points if you have an eye for presentation. Love for data: you measure, analyze, and act on insights. Detail-oriented multitasker who thinks two steps ahead. Degree or post-grad diploma in Human Resources. Self-starter with a team-first mindset.
