Job Description


The University of Prince Edward Island invites applications for the position of Senior HR Process and Systems Officer, Human Resources.

Reporting to the Manager of Human Resources, the Senior HR Process and Systems Officer has a high degree of responsibility and accountability for the procedural and operational HR related processes. The successful applicant will have primary responsibility for developing, implementing, and operationalizing continuous process and system improvements within Human Resources to ensure a seamless experience for Faculty, Staff and Student employees.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reporting to the Manager of Human Resources, the Senior HR Process and Systems Officer will be responsible for the following:

  • Ensuring process and system compliance with Employment Standards, CRA, UPEI Collective Agreements and University policy
  • Overseeing the collection, validation, and maintenance of HR related data, within UPEI\'s centralized information system (Colleague)
  • Playing a key role in the university\'s employment/payroll related reporting requirements, responsible for data management, report creation, and the dissemination of employment related information
  • Directing and assisting in the completion/updating of training manuals, business process documentation
  • Implementing continuous improvement strategies including promoting effective use of technology in streamlining and automating business processes
  • Leading process and systems enhancement efforts with cross functional teams and institute stakeholders
  • Providing systems support and troubleshooting issues relating to Human Resources
  • Collaborating with ITSS and other departments in the planning, design, development, and deployment of new applications and enhancements to existing applications that impact human resources operations
  • Educating and coaching team members
  • Assisting with other Human Resources activities and duties as required
QUALIFICATIONS:

The position requires the following qualifications and skills:
  • University degree or college diploma in the field of human resources, business administration, computer science, finance, or management information systems and 5 years related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Proven experience with business and technical requirements analysis, business process modeling/mapping, methodology development, and data modeling
  • Experience working in a Human Resources Office at a post-secondary educational institution
  • Demonstrated experience working with highly confidential materials
  • Experience overseeing the design, development, and implementation of system, process and data management initiatives
  • Extensive practical knowledge in importing data for use in report software, spreadsheets, graphs, and flowcharts
  • Ability to create systematic and manual operations procedures in both technical and user-friendly language
  • Ability to apply statistical and other research methods into systems issues and products as required
  • Working knowledge of network and PC operating systems
  • Working knowledge of current network hardware, protocols, and standards. Experience with Ellucian\'s Colleague System would be an asset
  • Demonstrated project management skills and project management software skills, including MS Project
