What is the opportunity?
As a Senior HRBP supporting Commercial Banking, for COO, Commercial Credit & RBC Origins, you will provide strategic advice and counsel to Commercial Banking Operating Committee (OC) members and their Senior Leadership teams on all aspects of talent including talent management, organizational design, change management, workforce management, culture and inclusion, leadership and employee development, performance management and rewards and recognition. You will report to the VP, HR, Commercial Banking.
What outcomes will you drive?
The following are key outcomes that you will drive in the HRBP role. Although listed separately, they often overlap and one influences the other. Your role will require you to constantly prioritize, re-prioritize, and integrate these outcomes:

  • Strategy Development and Execution. In your role, it will be key that you understand both the HR and Commercial Banking strategic priorities and key initiatives and are working with your Leaders to determine people and organization implications for their teams. You will be an active force in imagining how the strategies apply and in determining initiatives to ensure they are executed within the teams you support.
  • Advice and Consultation. The people-related questions and issues a Leader faces every day are as unique as the individuals that make up RBC. You will partner effectively with Leaders and additional partners to provide advice and counsel on how to resolve issues and concerns in a way that meets the needs of the individual and the organization. You will also use HR data analysis to inform decisions and recommend actions.
  • Talent Management. You will work with the leadership team on various talent strategies focused on attracting, developing and retaining high-performing employees. This includes advising on workforce and succession planning, creating effective retention and engagement strategies and coaching on performance management. This also includes coaching the Leaders themselves, where you will provide feedback and formal development recommendations.
  • Organization Development and Change. You will help the business adapt and navigate organizational transitions while ensuring people-related initiatives are aligned with outlined outcomes. This includes driving effectiveness, improving team performance and optimizing organizational design. You will also help Leaders manage the employee impacts of change through communication and training.
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have:
  • Proven experience advising senior executive leaders and supporting change and transformation in a large, complex sophisticated organizations. This experience could have been gained in a similar HR business partner or COE role or as a management consultant working with challenging and complex clients.
  • Experience in continually assessing the changing needs of the business and designing long-term solutions with partners to ensure optimal people practices and business outcomes.
  • Can think strategically while being able to dive into the details when required. Strong consultative orientation and relationship management capabilities including the ability to impact, influence, and constructively challenge senior leaders
  • Undergraduate degree, preferably in Human Resources
  • Strong business and financial acumen
  • Ability to prioritize high volume, competing priorities for multiple stakeholders and in turn deliver balance of advice and counsel with strong execution capabilities
  • Ability to collect, identify, analyze, and interpret business data using various techniques to meet needs and requirements, and make recommendations with results drawn from the data analysis
  • Ability to understand, assess and respond to complex situations and provide strategic and innovative solutions to drive results
  • Solid aptitude for change management capabilities and leadership effectiveness
  • An effective user and champion of technology.
