The Role:



We are looking for a highly motivated, confident, hard-working and enthusiastic Senior Graphic Designer to join our team.

Reporting to the Head of Design, the Senior Graphic Designer will be responsible for upholding and elevating Open Farm's brand standards through exceptional creative design. This role will focus on delivering high-quality work across packaging, online assets, and marketing initiatives, with particular emphasis on packaging and point-of-purchase (POP) materials

The ideal candidate is an experienced and ambitious designer who is passionate about visual communication and its power to shape a brand's presence in the world. As a member of the Open Farm design team, you will bring fresh, strategic ideas to life -- from concept to execution -- while collaborating across teams to create cohesive and impactful visual storytelling.

Primary Responsibilities:



Conceptualize, design, and execute innovative packaging and brand assets that align with creative briefs, strengthen Open Farm's brand identity, and ensure visual consistency across all touchpoints. Lead creative design projects from concept to completion, delivering high-quality work across packaging, online assets, and marketing initiatives. Collaborate with cross-functional teams--including marketing, innovation, digital marketing, and social media--to translate business objectives into compelling visual experiences. Present design concepts and creative strategies to senior leadership and cross-functional partners for alignment and feedback. Develop and maintain comprehensive packaging systems, marketing collateral, and sales materials such as catalogues, point-of-purchase (POP) displays, and tradeshow exhibits. Apply deep expertise in the consumer-packaged goods (CPG) industry--ideally within the food sector--to create packaging that meets both branding and regulatory standards across international markets. Design packaging that adheres to regional compliance requirements, including those set by AAFCO, NASC, and the Consumer Packaging and Labelling Act, as well as Quebec's French Language Charter. Integrate third-party certifications and sustainability standards--such as Certified Humane, GAP, OceanWise, BCorp, how2recycle, and MSC--seamlessly into packaging designs. Understand the technical complexities of large-scale, high-volume print production, ensuring accurate pre-press setup, Pantone color matching, and seamless collaboration with third-party vendors for press approvals. Coordinate with external production partners and suppliers to ensure flawless execution of printed and digital assets. Design for both print and digital platforms, including advertisements, brochures, packaging, web layouts, social media, and email marketing campaigns. Develop visually engaging presentations and slide decks for internal teams and leadership. Manage multiple concurrent projects in a fast-paced environment, maintaining exceptional attention to detail and meeting deadlines. Champion the brand identity across all creative outputs, ensuring every execution reinforces Open Farm's visual and strategic vision. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:



Bachelor/Diploma of Graphic Design required. 10+ years' experience in the consumer-packaged goods industry, preferably within the food industry, with a deep understanding of branding and packaging across a wide range of products, with a personal portfolio that demonstrates this. Expert knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, (Photoshop, Illustrator, Procreate, Figma, Klayvio and Mailchimp). Custom free-hand illustration capabilities with a demonstrated body of work available within the personal portfolio that demonstrated this. Photography experience and strong photo-enhancing/editing skills. Experience using a drawing tablet (beyond iPad). Knowledge of video editing & motion graphics software (Adobe Premier, After Effects). Expert knowledge of pre-press and lithographic and flexographic printing processes, specifically: Pantone colour matching On-site press approvals Ability to collaborate with third-party vendors in-plant Strong understanding of designing packaging for different international markets and meeting international packaging standards, including but not limited to an in-depth understanding of legal and regulatory statements that need to be included on packaging design related to food and pet food product, as well as language standards, typography guidelines, and the integration of required logos and identifiers on packaging (e.g., AAFCO and NASC in the US and Consumer Packaging and Labelling Act as well as Quebec's Charter or the French Language in Canada). Strong knowledge of rules and regulations from third- party certifications including, but not limited to, Certified Humane, GAP, OceanWise, BCorp, how2recycle and MSC Certification standards and how they apply on package design. Proficiency in designing for both print and digital mediums, including advertisements, brochures, packaging, website layouts, social media graphics, and email campaigns. Strong background in shopper marketing and retail design, with proven ability to create packaging and in-store displays such as point-of-sale materials that enhance the customer shopping experience.

Work location and Travel Requirements:



Ability to work out of our Headquarters in Toronto, Ontario for a minimum of two days per week. Ability to travel locally, domestically and internationally up to 30% as required (e.g. press approvals).
