Are you interested in helping to lead Suncor\xe2\x80\x99s efforts in decarbonizing our base business? We are hiring a Senior Development Engineer in our greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction organization. If you are a strong non authoritative leader and a creative thinker that can simplify complex development opportunities, we want to hear from you!
As a Senior Development Engineer, you will leverage your technical knowledge of our base business to help decarbonize our assets and drive Suncor towards our goal of net zero emissions by 2050. Strong informal leadership skills and a strong collaborative mindset will be critical as you influence diverse teams to help develop a portfolio of project opportunities (both capital and non-capital) that will drive improvements in energy efficiency.

Minimum Requirements:

10 years of engineering / development experience in oil & gas

Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in engineering or related discipline

Strong understanding of project economics and financial key performance indicators

Knowledge of budget and business planning processes (capital and expense)

Shows strong initiative and can perform well in a dynamic team environment

Ability to achieve results with minimal direct supervision

Responsibilities:

Manage a portfolio of projects across the enterprise aimed at reducing GHG emissions through energy efficiency improvements

Screen, evaluate and prioritize projects through economic valuation, carbon abatement / energy assessment, and alignment within our wider decarbonization strategic objectives

Facilitate energy efficiency workshops across our Upstream and Downstream Assets to identify new opportunities for technical evaluation

Work with enterprise technical and asset teams to progress energy reduction opportunities for execution

Leverage best practices across the enterprise to support both capital and non-capital program opportunities

Develop and support framing of project opportunities to inform future development work

Support funding of energy efficiency projects through portfolio management processes

Lead the capital stewardship of energy efficiency projects

Location and other Key Details:

You will work out of our Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 \xe2\x80\x93 6th Ave S.W.

Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday, with the potential for extended work hours based on business needs
