Who are we looking for?
We are seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join our specialized geotechnical and geo-structural team in Vancouver (BC).
The ideal candidate is passionate about technical excellence and innovation, bringing:

Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:
Geotechnical Site Characterization: Plan and design investigation programs, interpret soil and rock investigations to support design; develop geotechnical design reports, geotechnical baseline reports and Geotechnical factual reports
Geotechnical & Geostructural Design: Foundation design, soft soil engineering solutions and soil improvement, slope stabilization, retaining systems and rock mechanics applications.
Seismic Engineering: Support performance-based earthquake-resistant foundation and retaining structure design.
Advanced Analysis: Perform and review stress-strain and soil-structure interaction modeling using PLAXIS 2D/3D, FLAC 2D/3D, DIANA FEA, RS2, RS3 tools.
Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration: Provide geotechnical input and support for tunnel design, dam and tailings facility designs, and structural designs; participate in integrated design reviews.
Innovation & Automation: Support the development of scripts and digital workflows (e.g., Python, VBA, machine learning) to automate repetitive geotechnical tasks and streamline post-processing, improving efficiency in design workflow.
Quality & Leadership: Review internal deliverables to ensure compliance with GHD's quality management procedures, promote technical excellence, and provide mentorship to junior engineers.
Project Management: Coordinate geotechnical scope, manage schedules and resources, and ensure timely delivery of project milestones.
Proposal Support: Contribute to technical sections of proposals, methodologies, and client presentations.
What you will bring to the team:

• 10+ years of experience in geotechnical engineering, including soil and/or rock investigation and interpretation, geotechnical/ geostructural design, and proven ability to collaborate with other civil disciplines to deliver integrated, interdisciplinary design
• Bachelor, or higher degree/qualification civil engineering or geotechnical engineering
• Professional Engineering Designation (P.Eng) in BC or eligible to become a P.Eng in BC
• Strong technical background and proficiency in numerical modeling tools such as PLAXIS 2D/3D, FLAC 2D/3D, DIANA FEA, RS2, RS3, DeepEx, Wallap, RSpile, L-Pile, Group, A-Pile, Shaft, RSeismic, GRLWEAP, CPeT, and Cliq
• Knowledge of Python scripting, OpenQuake engine, AutoCAD, Rhino, and Grasshopper, Open Ground, LeapFrog is not required but considered an asset
• Knowledge in rock mechanics is not required but considered an asset.

Salary range: $125,000 - 183,000 based on experience.
