Our Ground Engineering and Tunneling team provides technical support to a wide range of infrastructure projects throughout Canada, and worldwide. As a result, we\'re looking for people who have the passion and drive to be involved with major geotechnical projects across a range of sectors for various infrastructures and mining.

Position Summary:

As a Senior Geotechnical Engineer, you will work as part of a team of geotechnical engineers providing support and advice to the wider Jacobs business and clients as well as acting as team leader on your own projects. You will lead in the delivery of geotechnical input to projects, make critical project decisions, review design and analyses of subcontractors and will also be required to provide technical guidance and support to intermediate engineers and less experienced junior engineers.

Main responsibilities will include:

Perform a variety of engineering work from the initial planning and design through implementation and construction phase;

Perform conventional aspects of design engineering and analysis and carry out senior review of geotechnical design and analyses;

Plan and conduct work requiring judgment in independent evaluation, selection, and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures, and
criteria;

Provide technical guidance to intermediate to junior engineers and designers/drafters;

Lead geotechnical projects /tasks from proposal level, to site investigation, design and construction supervision;

Carry out variety of soil mechanics analyses and design including marine design, bridges, highways, levees, flood walls and flood gates, water/wastewater treatment plants and commercial and industrial facilities, ground improvement, shoring, retaining structures and foundation engineering design; and,

Produce proposals, technical memorandums and reports.

Here\xe2\x80\x99s What You\xe2\x80\x99ll Need:

Minimum qualifications:

\xc2\xb7 Bachelor of Science degree in Civil /Geological Engineering or related;

\xc2\xb7 Registered Professional Engineer in Ontario;

\xc2\xb7 Minimum 15 years of all-round geotechnical engineering experience;

\xc2\xb7 Ability to progress schemes from inception to design completion;

\xc2\xb7 Advanced knowledge of geotechnical engineering, including:

• Site investigation, laboratory testing and instrumentation

• Deep and shallow foundation design

• Settlement calculations and selection of soil stiffness parameters

• Embankment design, slope stability and seepage analysis

• Design and analysis of earth retaining structures

• Design and analysis of barrier and cover systems

• Construction monitoring and supervision

\xc2\xb7 The ability to produce accurate and well-presented reports is essential in this role.

\xc2\xb7 Demonstrate excellent communication skills and the ability to work as part of a large multi-disciplinary team; and,

\xc2\xb7 Must have flexibility to include occasional travel for assignments.

Preferred qualifications:

\xc2\xb7 Master of Science or Engineering (M.SC./M.Eng.) degree in Civil (Geotechnical) Engineering preferred;

\xc2\xb7 Transportation geotechnical engineering with MTO experience and qualification;

\xc2\xb7 Permafrost experience and cold climate design;

\xc2\xb7 Experience on water projects including marine projects, shoring design, soft soils, bridge foundation, pipelines, outfalls, intakes and treatment plants; and,

\xc2\xb7 Expert knowledge with geotechnical design software programs such as LPile, Slope/W, Seep/W, gINT, Settle3D, SHAKE, FLAC and Plaxis.
