Join our team today!Your OpportunityThe role of the Intermediate / Senior Geotechnical Engineer provides the opportunity to work on Engineering and Geotechnical projects in a multi-discipline project team environment. Working in our St. Johns, Newfoundland office it is expected that your technical skills will help boost the growth of the geotechnical team. This role will allow you to leverage your geotechnical technical skills and project management experience, participating in project work, and provide mentorship to junior staff and assist them with the development of their technical skills.This position offers an excellent opportunity for professional development and career advancement.Your Key ResponsibilitiesWorking on and taking a technical or project management lead for a variety of projects spanning from mining, transportation, commercial/industrial developments, water and wastewater, traditional and renewable energy, and all other sectors of infrasrtucre development.Collaborating with our staff to complete Geotechnical Engineering design/analysis, recommendations and prepare Geotechnical reports to address applicable design and constructions issues specific to the the project, Clients needs and applicable local regulatory requirements and design standards.Active in Business Development including identifying opportunities for new projects, developing client relationships, participating in local technical / construction committees / associations and preparing proposals (developing scopes and budgets)Technical review of project documents and proposals prepared by other team members for technical accuracy and competencyProject managing multiple geotechnical projectsClient managementSubconsultant / Subcontractor managementOverseeing work performed by more junior and developing staff members, as well as making time to mentor more junior staff in their career development and succession planning. Technicians and EITsQualificationsYour Capabilities and CredentialsA strong commitment to safetyFamiliar with local bylaws, and design codes (eg. NBCC, CSA-S6-14. Canadian Foundation Engineering Manual)Strong client relationship development experience.Strong sub-consultant and sub-contractor management experienceProficiency with common geotechnical software (e.g. GeoStudioxe2x84xa2, LPile, and Settle 3D)Professional Engineer in good standing withPEGNL, with P.Eng. designation, or be eligible to obtain a license to practice in the province of Newfoundland & Labrador.Excellent organizational ability, report writing, and verbal communication are essentialExperience in supervision, guidance, and development, mentoring of junior staffPrevious experience working in an engineering consulting environmentEducation and ExperienceA university degree in civil (geotechnical) or geological engineering from an accredited university.A minimum of 7 years experience practicing as a registered Professional Engineer.Specific knowledge and understanding of the geology of Newfoundland and Labrador would be an asset.Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time.
