The need for this type of connection is not new. There are many companies working on ways to connect humans in singularity with technology, however most of these technologies are based on devices that are often used in episodical ways hence, leading to poor adoption or reliability. In general, innovation and technology have delivered significant benefits for many members of society. However, there are those who are left behind, namely the very young, the marginalized, the old and the sick. The challenge of inclusion for those left behind requires us to move beyond device focused strategies, towards an interface that we use naturally, every day. We believe that textile is that primary interface, used in clothing, coverings, carpeting and more, we wear and are surrounded by textiles universally, always.

Such an interface could fuse data with other devices that we use periodically and data with other IoTs in the environment. People could then leverage their physical presence over their digital presence to communicate and share personal wellbeing. This could unlock healthcare that is proactive and preventative, social connectedness that is more profound, enable care distribution models to be seamless and on demand, better fitness insights, safer working environments and more.

The vision for SKIIN -our first consumer-facing brand- is to enhance human ability through connected clothing and textiles. Skiin is in beta-phase market launch and has been recently granted Health Canada medical device license and submitted to FDA for regulatory approval in the US market. The sensors and actuators embedded within our apparel create your Digital Identity, which will be consumed by those who matter to you - your family members, physicians, trainers, other IoT devices - without you consciously having to think about it. The line between the digital and physical world is becoming increasingly blurry and we believe textile is the next medium to bridge that gap.

The Role:

Are you an experienced Full Stack Developer looking for a challenging and rewarding opportunity to make a significant impact in the field of biomedical technology? Join our dynamic team as a Senior Full Stack Developer and play a vital role in developing cutting-edge solutions that bridge the gap between technology and healthcare. Your expertise will help us take our mobile and cloud applications to the next level.

Our existing technology stack includes React for web development, React Native for mobile applications, DynamoDB, S3 for cloud storage, Kubernetes for container orchestration, and GitHub Actions and CircleCI for CI/CD. While we require current expertise in these technologies, there is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in revamping the platform with cutting-edge technology.

While this is a Full-Stack role, the responsibilities for the first year will be focused on backend development.

This role will require on-site/hybrid work. Candidates near the GTA are invited to apply.

Responsibilities:

1. Advanced Development: As a Senior Full Stack Developer, you will be responsible for designing and implementing advanced front-end, API, and backend components. Your deep knowledge of software architecture and development will be a driving force in creating high-quality solutions.

2. Algorithm Productization: Take the lead in productizing complex biomedical algorithms for mobile and cloud applications, ensuring they are optimized for speed and cost-efficiency. Your expertise will be pivotal in achieving superior performance.

3. Technical Specifications: Produce comprehensive technical specifications that guide the development process, ensuring a clear roadmap for the team to follow.

4. Code Reviews: Conduct thorough code reviews, providing valuable feedback and guidance to junior developers and contributing to the maintenance of high coding standards.

5. Agile Involvement: Actively participate in Scrum events, working collaboratively with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative solutions on time.

6. Database Management: Utilize your extensive knowledge of databases to optimize data storage, retrieval, and management within our applications, ensuring the security and integrity of healthcare data.

7. Software Requirements and Design: Contribute to the creation of software requirements and design documentation, providing clarity and structure to the development process.

8. Cybersecurity Oversight: Champion cybersecurity best practices and ensure the security of our applications and data. Implement robust security measures to safeguard healthcare data and patient privacy.

9. EMR/EHR Integration: Leverage your expertise in HL7 standards to seamlessly integrate healthcare data exchange capabilities into our applications, ensuring data interoperability and compliance.

Qualifications:

Education: Hold a degree in software/computer engineering, computer science, biomedical engineering, or possess equivalent experience that showcases your expertise in the field. An advanced degree in a related field is a bonus.

Technical Skills: Demonstrate proficiency in Python, React, and SQL, with a proven track record of successfully developing and optimizing software applications.

Full Stack Proficiency: Possess in-depth knowledge of both front-end and back-end technologies, as well as experience in working with APIs and databases.

Cloud Experience: Have hands-on experience working with cloud providers, particularly AWS, and demonstrate the ability to leverage cloud services for scalable and cost-effective solutions.

Healthcare Expertise: Show familiarity with data science and an understanding of human physiology, enabling you to develop healthcare-focused solutions.

Team Player: Collaborate effectively within a team environment, bringing your experience to mentor and guiding junior developers.

Innovation: Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies, contributing innovative ideas and insights to drive our projects forward.
