Job Description

We are seeking a Senior Full Stack Engineer role for our Insurance, core systems and to support our transformation strategy. Composes, builds, evaluates, delivers, upkeeps, and enhances business applications within a team, operates across the full stack throughout the complete software development process.

Position Responsibilities:

o Builds, codes, tests, maintain high quality software


o Participates in Agile sprints and ceremonies; supports rapid iteration and development


o Translates user requirements into software requirements


o Designs, develops, tests, delivers, maintains and improves business applications as a member of a team, works across full-stack through entire software development lifecycle


o Builds code to specifications and standards


o Builds and codes moderately complex software


o Minimal time coaching teammates


o Contributes code across BUs


o Has positive impact to specific organizational entities & has some understanding of the nature of the impact


o Usually a top contributor to team's success


o Designs, codes, unit tests and integrates new features and functionality as defined by the PO and team


o Applies creative problem solving that bring software designs to life


o Builds apps, APIs and data solutions to drive projects


o Promotes agile principles and methodology


o Participates in ideation and brainstorming sessions to devise creative and ground-breaking digital solutions


o Performs various investigative "Spikes" in order to mitigate technical uncertainty and risk


o Assists in the development of automated test harnesses as necessary to ensure delivery of high quality code


o Updates progress daily through the tracking tool (Jira) or Kanban board


o Completes and ensures completion of any required documentation required e.g. deployment, maintenance, support and business needs


o Participate in the weekly Look Ahead meetings to assist the Product Partner to refine the Product Backlog including providing initial estimates


o Apply disciplined coding practices to enable agility and delivery of high quality code

Required Qualifications:

. 7+ years Full Stack Software Engineer experience


o Familiar with modern software architectures and API-driven development


o Familiar with scripting languages


o Prioritizes efficient code production by using open-source frameworks and patterns


o Attends advanced training sessions and is certified on multiple domains of expertise


o Demonstrates all core skills, and good interpersonal skills for the role


o Good working and background knowledge of area of practice


o Apply your expertise in the field and the market to develop the appropriate strategy


o Participates in functional demos applying new technology; builds own control structures


o Writes clear, readable and maintainable code, takes ownership of the quality and usability of code


o Understands how to find and reuse patterns and platforms in the Manulife ecosystem and the broader community


o Experience with technologies such as: React, Javascript , Python, .Net Core


o Good API skills (technologies such as Express/Node, GraphQL /Relay, Flask, Jersey, Java Spring REST or WebApi2)


o Hands-on RDBMS experience (data modeling, analysis, programming, stored procedures) and NoSQL DB knowledge


o Familiarity with A gile and DevOps principles, test-driven development, continuous integration, and other approaches to accelerate the delivery of new features


o Good foundation in data structures and algorithms


o Collaborative attitude, willingness to work with team members; able to coach, participate in code reviews, share skills and methods


o Constantly learns from both success and failure


o Good organizational and problem-solving abilities that enable you to manage through creative abrasion


o Good verbal and written communication; effectively articulates technical vision, possibilities, and outcomes


o BS or MS in Computer Science preferred or equivalent professional experience

Salary range is expected to be between

$94,220.00 CAD - $174,980.00 CAD
