Progression through the payband is in accordance with the increments in the payband as outline in the Full-Time Support Staff Collective Agreement based on actual service in the payband.
About the Senior Full Stack Developer Role:
The Senior Full Stack Developer is responsible for front and back-end development, with knowledge in all stages of software programming with the ability to take a concept and turn it into a finished product. The role leads and communicates the technical and functional development of UofGH's web properties, leveraging their expertise and knowledge of application architecture and development to achieve the strategic goals and objectives of UofGH.
Under the direction of the Manager, Enterprise Systems and Data Integration, the incumbent will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and supporting applications, services, servers and sites from proof of concept through production, while adhering to industry best practices. The incumbent will work on planning, development, maintenance, security and compliance of all enterprise applications and systems, like but not limited to guelphhumber.ca (external website), & my.guelphhumber.ca (internal portal) that support the University's operations and processes. The candidate will be also responsible for the operations management of enterprise applications including integrating student's and instructor's data from the partners enterprise systems and applications, and technical support of UofGH corporate systems, related software infrastructure and multi-cloud applications, in support of the academic operation.
What you bring to the role:
Education
The successful candidate will have a minimum of a four-year degree or equivalent in one or more of the following sectors:
Computer Science
Computer Programming Languages
Experience and Skills
The successful candidate will have at minimum of five-years' experience on:
Developing and maintaining Drupal-based websites and applications (Drupal 10), including custom modules, themes, Views, blocks, content types, and configuration management using Composer and Drush.
Implementing backend systems in PHP and Laravel, integrating them with university systems, APIs, and third-party services while ensuring code quality, performance, and security.
Building responsive, accessible user interfaces using HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript (ES6+). Experience with JS frameworks is an advantage.
Designing, optimizing, and troubleshooting MySQL databases, including schema management, query performance, data integrity, and backup considerations.
Using Linux command-line tools for development, deployment, log analysis, cron jobs management, and basic server troubleshooting.
Managing local development and deployment environments using Docker or other containerization technologies, supporting reproducible builds and CI/CD pipelines.
Building and integrating RESTful APIs, interfacing with institutional systems such as student records, authentication services, or learning management platforms.
Maintaining version control using Git, participate in peer code reviews, and follow structured development workflows and documentation standards.
Creating Python scripts or utilities for data processing, automation, or integration where appropriate.
Direct experience working within or supporting
higher education institutions
, with knowledge of academic workflows. Familiarity with ERP systems (Colleague, Banner, PeopleSoft) is preferred.
Basic server administration experience (Apache/Nginx, PHP-FPM) and CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, GitLab CI).
