Responsibilities
  • Program motion control firmware for robotic and general purpose automation applications
  • Work with partners to seamlessly integrate Vention automation systems with robot manufacturers
  • Implement various distributed robot services and agents software using Automation Technologies like ROS
  • Program embedded devices using Python, JavaScript and C++ to extend Vention\'s automation ecosystem
  • Participate in all aspects of the software lifecycle, from defining the requirements, planning and designing the model, to implementing and testing, and finally, deployment and maintenance
  • Directly contribute to the code and to the architectural roadmap and promote high engineering standards
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior team members
  • Design and lead crucial technical projects and initiatives cross teams and departments
  • Develop and maintain thorough documentation for all developed models and associated code
  • Stay on the leading edge of technical know-how, industry trends and drive technical innovations
Qualifications
  • B.S. in Computer Science/Mechanical Engineering or quantitative field; M.S. preferred
  • 10+ years experience contributing to product development teams as a programmer
  • Comfortable with (Python, JavaScript, C/C++) and programming for embedded devices
  • Strong Linux experience
  • Experience with robot motion planning
  • Ability to navigate complex architecture with ease
  • Deep knowledge of embedded linux systems
  • Deep knowledge of communication protocols
  • Fluency in Microcontroller Peripherals (GPIO, clocks, resets, ADC & DAC, PWM, DMA, Interrupts, etc.)
  • Experience in designing responsive systems (embedded and cloud/web)
  • Fluency in reading Circuit Board Layout
  • Understanding of ROS
  • Understanding of TCP/IP, REST and message brokers
  • Understanding of distributed system design and the related technical challenges
  • Effective communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • A strong sense of ownership of all aspects throughout the SDLC and beyond
